To my knowledge, Raja made a reference to skipping the clay season, but didn't come out right and say it. So some of the tennis media interrupted his comment to leave the door open to play some of it.

It would be Zverev's third (which is super legit), and Isner's first.

Note: until Zverev has some sort of run in a grand slam I will continue to think he sucks. And yes, I know, I'm sure he really cares that a rando on the internet thinks he sucks.

I'm sure a lot are the same. His runs in slams are pretty poor and a bit of a shock, I don't think it'll be long until he fires into the second week of a slam.

He'll probably knock out a Roger/Rafa/Novak in the 2nd week then lose the semi to a random.

If Zverev wins, which I hope he does (cause Isner is annoying), he'll have 3 M1000 titles before he's 20 or 21 or whatever.

He would also be the only active player outside the Big 4 with more than 2.

Delpo just got his first (edit- I thought it was his second earlier), Wawrinka only has 1, Ferrer has 2. Dimitrov and Cilic only have 1.

And just for fun, the big dogs have:

Novak: 26
Fed:13
Nadal: 18
Murray: 12

There are 9 Masters 1000 tourneys every year, so it's pretty amazing how infrequently a non-big 4 guy has binked one.

The Wawrinka stat is also why I don't think he should be included in a "Big 5" group.

Whats amazing is how few Fed has won. On paper he would have been the favorite in at least all of the North American Masters/1000s for all but a few years of his career. He has a real talent and system for peaking at GS events.

Isner has made it to three 1000 final rounds but has never won one. Lost to Murray in '16, Nadal in '13 and Federer in '12.

Definitely rooting for him against Sascha.

Wawrinka is weird. He and Murray have the same number of Grand Slam titles, but Murray has 11 finals appearances (record of 3-8), while Wawrinka only has 4 (record of 3-1).

Wawrinka also has three different GS trophies, which is interesting.
