Why are parents giving their kids names like Tennys?
Petkovic got bageled in 2nd and 3rd. So all hopes on Kerber once again.

Wawrinka not doing well.

And the hope of America's men's tennis relies on Ryan Harrison and Tennys Sandgren as they are the only Americans to advance to the 3rd round. Harrison faces Marin Cilic. Not much of a chance of the 45th ranked player taking him down. The 96th ranked Sandgren faces Maximilian Marterer, who is ranked 95th.

Meanwhile, Konta is upset by 123rd ranked Bernarda Pera who entered the tournament as a lucky loser due to the withdrawal of Margarita Gasparyan. Lauren Davis and Madison Keys also advance in straight sets. As expected, Nicole Gibbs was defeated by Kiki Bertens.

Two American men and 3 American women left going into the 3rd round and only one, Madison Keys, is ranked in this tournament. She faces 108th ranked Ana Bogdan of Romania. Davis and Pera both faced ranked competitors in Simona Halep and Barbora Strýcová, respectively.

Looks pretty likely that Keys (and maybe Sandgren) will move on, being the last hopes for American tennis in the AO.

Kyrgios vs Stronga looks like an exciting match.

There are a lot of young, female American players who likely have some potential to do well but none of them are likely to replace the Williams sisters once they're done.

As for men's tennis, I don't know how Isner is still ranked. All he can do is serve and play matches that seemingly last forever.

Yeah seems like casual tennis fans in America are practically dead cause we have no one to root for

Is this due to yanks obsession with big strong physical players rather technical players?

Big serve (which most yanks have) just simply doesn’t cut it anymore.

Not had winners at tennis for quite some number of years and if the focus remains on big servers with no defence they'll continue to not win.

Krygios was extremely composed in the big points last night. If he could play like that every match he probably could beat anyone not named Fedal right now.

If he remains composed I don't see him dropping a set to Dimitrov given how poorly he has played during the last two rounds.

I always love the "if [literally any player] could just play his best 100% of the time he would be so good," posts.
