Well, since we don't have any live sports, maybe it would be fun to mention your "greatest" or favorite sporting events since, say, about 1969 (about when they started to explode on TV).

In particular I have a subcategory where in an event which kind of was the ultimate match up with the ultimate build up ... the most extreme purest version of might have happened, did happen. I kind of think of this as "at the most extreme moment, the most extreme thing happened." Something I love for pure drama.

But aside from that, just listing fave sports events, greatest, etc.

A UK/EURO bias...

1985 Tour de France - Hinault vs LeMond

1982 Spain World Cup - I don't think there's been another World Cup with 3 absolutely brilliant teams. The best Brazil team since 1970, a great French team and a Rossi inspired Italy. England also went unbeaten..

1994 USA World Cup (even though England weren't there)

2012 London Olympics - Everyone thought Beijing set the standard but London pulled it out the bag.

The Boxing Day Test - The Melbourne Cricket Ground hosts the biggest test match of the year. Averages around 80,000 crowd for Boxing Day and around 200,000 total for the match. I've been to Ashes tests at both Lord's and the MCG, and the MCG wins hands down for atmosphere. Lord's is for the tradition.

The Monaco Grand Prix - The race itself is normally a pretty forgettable procession, but it's Monte Carlo and all the money comes out to play.

The Masters - Golf played in heaven. I played 3 holes of Augusta in about 1996 and I'll die happy for that alone.

The Superbowl - I don't follow a team. I don't watch the regular season, but I always watch the Superb owl.

The FA Cup - before we got the Premier League, pretty much the only live domestic football we would get on UK TV was the FA Cup Final. It was our Super Bowl. TV coverage would start at 9am from the team hotels and follow the whole day with cameras on the team buses to the old Wembley Stadium for a 3pm kick off. It's rubbish now and nobody cares about it anymore.

The Olympics Men's 100m Final - The big one. The shortest great sporting event in the world. No other Olympic event matters.

Wimbledon - The grand slam title that's number 1 on every tennis players wish list.

2008 Wimbledon final of Nadal's Federer even though I was rooting for Federer. That was just tennis at its absolute peak and the king finally being challenged.

Again no rooting interest but I gotta mention the 2016 world series. Game 7, Cubs winning the world series was pretty incredible. In that same mindframe, the bartman game was pretty much on par with the Falcons superbowl fail as just an absolute trainwreck in slow motion you knew was inevitable.

Broncos fan, so the Tebow game was just incredible. Not sure I've celebrated more for one of their wins and I'm even talking a superbowl.

Luving them all except maybe that NE Super comeback. I found it exasperating that a team up by 25 would play for a quarter and a half as if they didn't want to win the Super Bowl and give it to the Pats.

Kawhi draining that corner jumper over Philly

Any Tiger Masters

Any Olympics race with Usain

Phil Taylor throwing 2 (almost 3) 9 darters in a world championship match

World Cup semifinal where Brazil gets completely housed by Germany at home

Tebow game obviously (especially if you were on 2+2)

Liverpool comeback over AC Milan (2005?)

Boise State hook and ladder game 2007

28-3 game obviously

Bautista sliding dirty then getting punched in the face by Odor

Tiger draining an ace at Scottsdale

I'm not a Scouser but the 2005 champions league final was fantastic. That Crespo goal assisted by Kaka.

More bias here, but the 2014 world cup final was very good. Probably the best since 1986.

I'll rattle out a few.

Wimbledon 2008 - Greatest match ever, the entire day, the rain delays just everything.
Wimbledon 2013 - Murray finally doing it, ending a 77 year wait
British Open 1999 - I'll always remember him walking into the water. Absolute looney.
2012 Ryder Cup - Miracle at Medinah, was just incredible.
Tour de France 2012 - 100+ year wait.
Manchester United 1999 - The amount of come backs, last minutes winners.
Premier League 2012 - Aguero. I hate it but you have to say the drama is peak.
Premier league 2014 - Slip and Palace.
Premier league 2016 - Leicester, 5000-1.
Bolt and Phelps 2008 - Records
Federer turning 20
World cup 2006 Zidane header
World cup 2014 germany 7-1 brazil
world cup 1986 - Maradonas hand of god

AND finally

MJ coming back and kicking ass

Going with:

1969 Texas-Arkansas football 15-14 Texas, "Nixon Game"

1971 Nebraska-Oklahoma "Game of the Century" (Rodgers punt return qualifies as most extreme moment and occurrence)

Texas-USC Rose Bowl "Vince Show"

Ali-Frazier I (15th round knockdown to decide it seemed ultimate script to ultimate setup)

Hearns-Leonard (amazing match up of two sick fighters and it delivered)

Nadal-Fed Wimbledon Final 5-setter 08?

Secretariat Belmont '73 (obviously most extreme performance imaginable at hugest build up)

Walton sick NCAA final 1973 and 7th straight title for UCLA

Knicks-Lakers Game 7 '73 NBA Finals, "Reed Game"

David Clyde debut ... this one weirdly makes my list because of the tremendous build up, "teenager Clyde is the next Koufax" stuff ... and his debut was indeed extreme if the announcer at Riverfront was right that night. We were there watching the Reds play somebody and they announced that Clyde had walked the bases loaded in the 1st inning then struck out the side. Very memorable perhaps, if not so great.

Ohhhhh one for sure, but I suppose he didnt do it on the first game so we didnt know exactly when. But bonds hitting 71. So much tension at every at bat. Loved it.

Also, tearing up at Jordan hitting his final free throws as a wizard and leaving the game for what we all knew would be his final exit from the NBA. Might do the same for Bron but the nostalgia of growing up with jordan was huge

Tebow game was epic because everyone was expecting this big battle in OT and then BAM it's a throw over the middle and HE'S GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMZGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGGOMOMGGMOMGOMGOMGOGM

that was pretty much my reaction and I was a huge Tebow fan obv.

Man, if I owned the Jaguars I would've signed him, drafted running backs, O-Line, and ran the ****ing option 24/7/365. It would've got tons of fans in the seats and would've been playing to his strengths.

2004 world series

Mcgregor Vs Aldo

Floyd Mayweather Vs Victor Ortiz. I can't remember why but the match was stopped. They touched gloves and for some reason Ortiz wasn't defending himself. Floyd taps gloves and knocks him **** out in 1 second. I was at Foxwoods at time and place went wild.

Ronda Rousey VS Amanda Nunez. At time everyone still believed Rousey was the goat but it was a total farce. Everyone was watching this fight. I forget what happened but I think Rousey got pummeled for a straight minute. Career over.
