There were two others I was torn between but in the end chose Stam because in his three seasons at United they won the title three times. When he left, they came second. Not saying this is all down to Stam but is still pretty great achievement.

This is just ridiculous on so many levels. They were pretty bad in the time that he was their best player. That's all it really tells you. I liked him a lot as a player but he's flawed and while I don't know a lot about the history of the Prem, I'm shocked there wouldn't be a lot better choices at that position.
