Think RVN post his second nasty injury is tainting memories of him prior to it.

RVN was pure beast probably my fave of all time. As mentioned his hold up play was out of this world.

BUT

Fergie did axe him specifically because he felt the team had to be built around him, which was limiting us.

Le Tiss was tempting, but thought I'd wait to next round

I presume we are drafting these teams for balance?

I.e. Cantona Le Tiss might have been better off with a poacher than each other so I'd avoid picking both?

Le Tiss made football worth watching. Beautiful footballer. Just not much of an athlete.

Wrong, he was axed at United because of a number of incidents to do with his personality and attitude. He had numerous arguments and a few training ground bust ups with Ronaldo due to him being a show pony/ballgreedy. Had questioned SAF over how he could win the CL with young players like Rooney/Ronaldo and the final straw was when he called Fergie a "****" for not bringing him on during the 06 Carling Cup final. Fergie played Saha because he'd started in all the previous rounds and thought it was only fair he get to play in the final.

Nothing at all to do with systems or formations.

Le Tissier is an excellent pick, would have gone before Keane in my draft.

Ostrich can you give me your reasons for why you're anti Keane? Just curious as to why and where you would have placed/picked him.

He was a great motivator and an elite DM. Viera was better though, and I rank Scholes as the GOAT central midfielder, so he slips down my list because I'd have bagged one of those two before him and be focusing on a more creative player as my other CM choice.

Keane was a superb player, don't get me wrong.

Le Tiss was awesome. Southampton didn't win a game he didn't play in for like legitimately five years lol

Eight caps for england...

Fair enough. I do accept Vieira was a better athlete, and maybe a better offensive player. It was between the two of them for me, and I went with Keane because I think he slightly shaded the head to heads between them and was more successful (even though it was over a longer spell). Love Scholes as well (think he had gone when I drafted anyway not sure) but picked a DM as they are more scarce but would be happy with Vieira or Scholes instead.

Compilation videos are the worst imo. Pick a goal or two that supports whatever argument you are making and post that specific goal

It's just pathetic and shocking that he only ended up with 8 caps. There's more I want to say, but I have to see if someone gets drafted. Either way, Le Tiss, Le God. Hopefully joejoe chimes in on Le Tiss as I can imagine he will have a lot of good things to say.

Not positive this is aimed at me but pretty sure almost every goal in that video could disprove the arguments made against RVN.

Wasn't aimed at anyone really, just that they're usually awful in general.

Round 2 pick 1

A striker who burst on to the scene at a young age. Unfortunately his peak years ended up being his early years but these peak years were so incredibly high I had to put him in. One of the greatest finishers the Premiership has ever seen, he was simply nicknamed "God" by the supporters.

Spoiler:

Robbie Fowler, games 379 goals 162

There were one or two strikers I was tempted to go for but Fowlers finishing prowess and overall technique gave him the nod. He wasn't blessed with lightening pace but he had great movement overall, a good touch, could bring people in to play, but mostly just the sickest finisher around at the time. In effectively his first 3.5 seasons as a Premiership striker he scored 83 goals. He was just a very very slick footballer:

This game against Utd still feels very iconic to me even though I was a kid. Two goals that summed him up well.

We're approaching this differently though. I'm picking players on how well they beasted their particular Premiership era, plus I've decided to represent the 90's.

Fowler is great value here. Career suffered from injuries but before that his peak was amazing.

They were the two I sent PBAL. You sniped me, Cantona obviously the correct choice of those two. Spewing he couldn't drop one more.

I'm not sure I'd really say that he's great value here. The one thing the prem has been good at over the years is having a plethora of good strikers. Depending on the systems people use, there will be 30-40 strikers taken and that will leave a good amount of quality strikers that won't be drafted.

Personally, I think there's a few more complete strikers available right now that would be better picks than Fowler at this moment.

I think a lot has to do with how you interpret the draft, I've never done one of these before so I might be approaching it wrong. I'm trying to lean quite a bit towards the 90's as well as it's more fun to dig through the archives imo.

The way I look at it, there hasn't been too many Premiership strikers who had a higher peak and dominance over their opponents than a peak Fowler.

Fowler is without question a great pick. Peak Fowler was exceptional.
