In England Blackburn had opened their chequebook and were comfortably outspending anyone in Scotland. Liverpool dusted off 10m on the likes of Nigel clough and Paul Stewart.
They weren't bringing the overseas players like Serie A was, but to say they had less financial power than Scotland is a nonsense.
