Thought Cesc would fall way past this, but not on merit. Good pick.

Rooney going over Fabregas should be grounds for a trolling ban

In a snack draft once, the advantage of having two picks in a row made it easy to pick chips+dip etc... ;-)

Does it count extra if your players have proven that they can play together (or against you if eg. ZAIDS picks a certain partner for Frank)?

Yeah he's a fricking beast, look at City wins % with and without him. Also lets not forget how good he was last season, many (stupidly) thought that he should win player of the year over Count Undrafted.

Barca lettting him go was a pretty big error and isn't really talked about enough.

Re: All-Time English Premiership Draft

Do we have a ruling on whether or not we have to play 4-4-2?

Re: All-Time English Premiership Draft

GK might be worst first pick in a draft due to deep pool, but in a team they are not the least important position. Not the most important but pretty sure not the least.

One thing I would note is that if Lloris was as bad as Danny Rose he would have been replaced long ago. Teams seem willing to accept output defeciences in players at other positions they would never accept at GK.

There is a higher bar set for GKs but the fact that enough GKs exist to fill the spot above that bar does not diminish the importance of the position in a pure tactical sense for the team.

People are conflating two factors, how important is the actual position of keeper with the replacement value of keeper. If you put a terribad keeper in goal it would cause more damage than putting me in at RB, but this is erased in discussion by the fact that there are no terribad keepers.

Cliffs is, just because the replacment value might be lowest between the worst and best keeper does not mean the position of keeper is not really important relative to other positions, the depth of the talent pool is actually independent from the value of each position in a pure tactical sense.

Re: All-Time English Premiership Draft

well yes, it is in fact better to have no RB than no GK, doesn't mean the discussion of GK being "really the most important" position in a VORP sense insanely stupid

Re: All-Time English Premiership Draft

sure, if i had to put oafk on the field then GK is the last place i'd put you. im not sticking you in at fullback either cos you'll end up playing everyone onside. you're probably going in attack in a four four ****ing two and being instructed to use your bulk and veteran wiles to disrupt the CBs

altho saying that it depends on the team. if we're bayern at home vs random bundesliga side then i'll stick you in goal and have 96% possession and you wont even need to touch the ball or do anything other than stand on your line and get in the way if the other team somehow manage to have a 65 yard attempt on goal. might even get you to shout motivational slogans at the CBs altho they'll probably spend most of the game too far away to hear them

Re: All-Time English Premiership Draft

Pretty sure if I was in goal for BM and they played any other Bundesliga side I would be personally responsible for at least 6 goals including two air kicks from back passes.

Anyone who has played grass roots football even to a relatively high level is aware of the pure comedy that can happen when a non goalie has to command the sticks.

Re: All-Time English Premiership Draft

well no one is going to pass it back to you so you're only letting in 4/game, which means we're going to win the majority of our games and win the league.

basically the lesson here is that you could put oafk in goal and still win the league, thats how little GKs matter

Re: All-Time English Premiership Draft

Not sure if serious, but no.

The VORP might be low due to player pool, but if BM are winning the league with me in goal thats how lol the Bundesliga is not how unimportant GK is, which might have been your point.
