Either way, this isn't like the cricket drafts were whoever gets Bradman wins, as long as you don't pick Ali Dia you should have a reasonable shot of putting together a winning side.

Shearer is quickly becoming underrated as a player for his sheer idiocy as a pundit but in his prime (those seasons at Blackburn) he was incredibly good. I had him at No 2 as well.

Can someone confirm whether we have to use 4-4-2? Probably will anyway as it is the formation that the PL made its name on, and the league has become considerably less entertaining since it was abandoned but still.

As said earlier in the thread, Shearer's peak he was one of the best strikers in the world. Giggs I think you have more of an argument about but I think career length/time spent in the league has to factor into decisions otherwise real high level of recency bias.

I'm inclined to agree with fanerio. If the aim is to draft the ultimate team based on the best ever premiership players in each position, I'm not taking either Giggs or Shearer. Henry is straight in there though.

Shearer fine, was legit top forward for his time. Couldn't pick Giggs this high in current format as I think there's a better player in his position(s) in all the eras he played.
