Mike was a simple man who enjoyed playing poker on the internet. He had an impressive ROI in freerolls, and had almost won a WSOP seat once. He didn't claim to be the next Chris "Jesus" Ferguson, but he considered himself above average.
Unfortunately for Mike, his ULTIMATE TIGHTASS strategy was constantly being thwarted by loose/passive players (or "limper inner never raisers" as Mike liked to call them) who refused to fold. And this pissed Mike off.
Mike decided to start a thread on 2+2 in which he would report on his progress in online poker tournaments. And by "report on his progress in online poker tournaments" I mean "dump a seemingly never-ending stream of poorly-played freeroll HHs."
That's all I have time to do with this writeup now, but some cliffs of what happens later:
- Mike gets a staking/coaching deal
- Mike's coach is forced to give up as Mike refuses to accept criticism and insists on using the word "donk" in every sentence
- One of the regular contributors to the thread is exposed as a paedophile
- Mike remains blissfully unaware of the sex predator drama bomb and continues posting freeroll HHs
- Thread is locked, so Mike proceeds to start multiple threads in MTTC. At some point he calls out Shaun Deeb as a "goof".
You missed out some cliffs.
After his first coach gave up, I took him on and staked and coached him. He wasn't the easiest to work with but we got there eventually.
He became (relatively) sucessful, a winning player at least. The following is an extract from the last pm I got from him in September 2010.
"
My bankroll is now $1785.00
So I have moved up in stakes, so I now play the $7.70 180 man turbo. and the $8.80 90 man and the $11 90 man and the $11 180 man and the $5.50 20k gtd and the $11 40k gtd. and the $3 rebuy 60k and 40k gtd's and the $5.50 rebuy 50k gtd."
Also Shaun Deeb offered to coach him at one point but I don't think that ever came to pass.
