Sox D really let them down that inning.

Lester looks very solid though.

For all you Angels fans who haven't been reading the season-long Red Sox thread, I'm the guy who said Ortiz is washed up. Everyone keeps telling me that I'm wrong. Ozzie Guillen says he'd happily pitch around Youk or Pedroia to get to Ortiz. It sure looked like Scoscia pitched around Pedroia to get to Big Puppy when Ellsbury was on first. Pedroia walked, on a night where Lackey hasn't come close to walking anybody else in any spot.

What is with baseball injuries? They just showed the play Lowell got injured on, and I am at a loss as to how that play could keep someone from playing baseball.

I know. football players must laugh when they see that....or when you hear announcers/coaches saying: We dont like so and so to slide because he could get hurt.

Sliding!

A friend of mine once said the exact same thing. I reminded him that baseball players are human beings, just like you and me. They can strain their back getting out of bed, strain a knee walking up the stairs, sprain an ankle on a curb, sprain a thumb making a tag, jam a wrist sliding, get tendinitis in their wrist from shuffling chips, etc. etc. etc. Short answer: their bodies aren't indestructible any more than anyone else's.

My take is just the opposite from yours, having been injury prone myself in baseball. Was at a Reds game this year sitting right next to Griffey Jr. out the rightfield line. Was with my dad the doctor and said to him, "I wonder just how many parts on him have to be healthy for him to be out on that field." He didn't say anything. But it's a whole, whole, bunch.

So much for the "home run derby" predicted by these announcers in the first inning.

Umm, you know Ortiz is OPSing over 1.000 in his last 40 games, right?

Not the ones I've been able to watch, he hasn't.

I didn't get to see too many games in September--in fact, hardly any.

But numbers don't lie. I'm delighted to hear that he's turning it around. Now, I just want to SEE it.

I was fully prepared for an awful looking at bat with Bay being fed nothing but curves/sliders. He seems to really struggle with low and away breaking balls. Thanks Lackey.

Apparently. Although it worries me that they're reading my mind because frankly I think they suck.

Believe me, I was worried about him also. But his resurgence (he's hit a few monster shots like old) has been one of the bright spots lately, as far as missing out on the division down the pennant stretch. He's actually slugging .774 over the past 8 games. Hopefully, we will see it in the postseason.

For right now, that Bay blast is pretty sweet...
