AFAIK there's not even any penalty for challenging and being wrong. Zero reason not to challenge.

I almost think that Girardi didn't care because the score was 8-3 and he just figured one more out, no big deal. If the score was 8-7 does he still not challenge?

Girardi said he didn't challenge because he didn't want to break his pticher's rhythm.

Makes sense. You'd hate to break the rhythm of a guy who has given up a double, a walk, and possibly hit someone in the inning.
