I thought this was some sort of joke as Gwynn was hurt in 1995, but just looked it up and he played 135 games hahahahaah.

My favourite K stats are this guy

Bighurt, if you can handle it, one guy was just a whole lot crazier than anyone else who ever lived. a few of my favs

Quote:
—Bonds had a career line of .393/.967/1.054 on 3-0 counts.
—If you turned every home run Bonds ever hit into an out, his career on base percentage would be .384, the same as Alex Rodriguez's.
—Bonds stole 340 bases through age 30; Derek Jeter has stolen 355 in his career.
—Bonds made 85 fewer outs than Ken Griffey Jr. did in 1,302 more plate appearances.
—Bonds took the extra base—advancing more than one base on a single, or more than two on a double—43 percent of the time, more often than Ichiro Suzuki.
—If Bonds were to return to the major leagues tomorrow, he would have to make 1,412 straight outs to drop his on base percentage below .400.
Simply da GOAT

Im curious about other OBPs on 3-0 counts. Making an out on > 3% of 3-0 pitches that result in an outcome. Would be curious to see the numbers on only struck balls on 3-0 count.

wow guess he got sick of being called a free swinger in 1922

from his nytimes obituary:

Aside from his record of 115 straight games without striking out in 1929 and his average of about one strikeout every 16 games, the most compelling evidence of Mr. Sewell's uncanny ability to get the wood solidly onto the ball was that he used only one bat during his entire major league career. It was a 35-inch, 40-ounce Ty Cobb model Louisville Slugger he kept in condition by seasoning it with chewing tobacco and stroking it with a Coke bottle

Also- he struck out twice in a game twice in his entire career

And this beauty-Sewell, who died in 1990, would likely be aghast at today’s strikeout rates. “There’s no excuse for a major league player striking out 100 times a season,” he said in 1960. “Unless, of course, he’s blind.”
