No one will ever deny George is a really good bloke, and Zhou’s crash was scary af, but Russell and everyone else should know that if he was unable to get his car restarted and back to the pits, without assistance, wanted or not, he’s out of the race.

Absolutely memorable and phenomenal race.

I presumably misheard/misread something then. If he couldn't get the car restarted then yeah obviously he was out and there's no real argument that he should have been allowed to rejoin.

Certainly the most interesting race of the season so far. It will be interesting to see if Mercedes have genuinely closed the gap and will compete for race wins now or if this was a one-off.

After viewing the start in slow-mo, my opinion is that the entire round 1 incident is to blame on Russell.

He moves quickly and aggressively to the left causing Gasly to be sandwiched between Zhou and Russell. Gasly cannot brake quickly enough to avoid touching Russell and Russell torpedoes into Zhou. I wonder if Russell had seen Gasly at all.

Albon sees the accident happening, brakes and Vettel is right behind him with no visibility, doesn't anticipate this braking by Albon and rearends him.

If I see Zhou jump over the tire barrier, I'm happy that Verstappen didn't enter a similar roll last year with much greater velocity. He might have been capable of jumping the fence and cause a tragedy.

So I think we're all mature enough and it should anyway be for an adult audience to see the footage of the crash immediately and not have to wait to know he was OK and out of his car before we could see the footage. And all this before that they didn't know what was happening with him was b/s. We are in the 21st century with cameras everywhere and news reporters everywhere texting or getting footage themselves to send through to the commentators/TV directors. Need to smarten up their act next time because we don't want to be put on the sidelines like that thinking the worst for a driver.

I disagree entirely.

F1 is not for adults only. Have you ever been to a race? I saw entire families in Barcelona.

They are entirely correct to censure potentially shocking images.

Parents should be telling their kids to look away then.

Seems like there's a business opportunity there for F1, charging extra for an 18+ streaming service that affords people the opportunity to watch drivers die on live tv

Dumbest protest ever?

They were out there so quickly after the red flag that some at the track were saying that they would have already been entering the track before knowing there was a red flag and could have possibly been out there during live action under normal circumstances.

So pole position on a sprint race weekend is who gets pole for the sprint race rather than who wins the sprint race?

Yes. For the "Pole position" statistics, the standard qualification is what counts.

Pretty boring sprint race today. Just Perez moving up the pack and a cool battle between Hamilton and Schumacher.

Also the bad luck for Alonso just doesn't seem to be ending this year.

Lol McLaren just straight up ignoring Danny seems like a smart idea.

"I'm faster than him"

"Thank you for that"

It was kinda interesting how at the start of the sprint the Ferrari's we're pretty close to Max. A few laps later they never got within DRS range again. Most of that seemed to be the lackluster driving of Lolcrec & Sainz.

Teams shouldn't allow those kind of manoeuvering between teammates when there is a guy close/ahead of them

Red bull benefited twice from it today: first max pulled away with the ferrari's losing time in their battling then Perez managed to overtake the Haas because MSC went for a bad attack on MAG which ended up costing himself a place and meant Perez was no longer stuck behind what was a painful DRS train (same Lewis had to go through later)

I’m excited!

That was rather stupid from Perez.

Yeah, Perez is back to making his own bad luck. Even if it is Russell's fault, he has the entire ****ing race to pass the Merc

Mercedes ends up winning bigtime with that infraction. Those 5s penalties are a joke in some cases

Haas getting a bag of points makes me happy

Ferrari just can't get out of its own way. If it's not strategy it's reliability.

Double points for Haas again, Steiner party going to be wild

Seemed like a very optimistic move and puts way too much trust on the inside guy. Vettel found out too with Ghastly. And so many easier places to pass on that track.

Just finished watching.

Watched the first 5 laps, then the Wimbledon final, then back to F1.

Ferrari fire was rather scary, rotten luck for Sainz. Could have been 19 points.

-Leclerc with his 5th win, first not on pole.
-Verstappen’s 19th fastest lap (=15th), level with Moss, Senna, Hill, Webber and Bottas.
-Verstappen’s 68th podium (=8th), level with Barrichello
-Ricciardo’s 128th points finish (=12th), level with Prost
