If AH was the trigger man (the prosecutor purposefully did not say he was). I have a hard time seeing this even make it to trial. There will be a plea deal. AH lawyers are to good to have a guilty verdict from a trial, on their resumes.

Aren't we all rushing to judgment here? We all got caught up in the Penn State case, and nothing ever came of that.

I am betting this goes to trial. Unless the prosecutor is willing to drop murder from the equation. I don't think the prosecutor wants 2nd degree murder, so he is pretty much going to have to fight the charges.

This isn't that surprising, a lot of people don't seem that affected by what's happening when first being arrested for something serious, whether it's because they think they'll be able to get out, or they just don't understand the reality of the situation. I wouldn't be surprised if both apply to someone as intelligent as Aaron Hernandez.

I'm not sure about Mass, but I know in Canada that 1st degree murder charges also carry 2nd degree murder charges and manslaughter charges. They just say he is charged with 1st degree murder and the jury can come back with a guilty on 2nd degree, but not guilty of 1st degree.

just guessing and I am far from a lawyer, but the testimony of his boys (at least one of which I assumed flipped on him) is going to be critical here for the murder charge. there is 0% doubt he was involved somehow, but they still don't have a murder weapon they can link to him or any witnesses besides his 2 buddies. I assume these are bottom barrel guys the prosecution will do a good job of discrediting as people the jury can't trust. one of these 3 guys committed a murder 100%, but proving which one did it beyond a reasonable doubt I don't think will be as easy as most people seem to think.

even in the best case scenario for Hernandez he'll be going away for a long time for some charges, but I'm not sure if it will be the murder 1 charge.

Why is a lack of a murder weapon important here? Genuine question. All the other evidence from surveillance/texts/buddy accounts seems like it should render the weapon nearly irrelevant.

Was waiting for something like that given all the firepower they took from his house and the extra secrecy the cops were throwing over the case.

Crazy stuff.

This isn't close to true. Just because he had the chance at a life that you presume everyone wants, doesn't mean that's what he cared about. When you grow up in the hood and are raised by gangs, you have different priorities. He's obviously objectively stupid for not reforming himself once he was able to, but it's ******ed how people keep acting as if they could possibly understand the mindset of some of these NFL players who grew up much differently from you.

this is from a comment from PFT, so you know it's correct

also, to be guilty, the State does not necessarily have to prove he pulled the trigger. he just has to be involved – if they can show he planned it, was there, helped make sure it happened, then it does not matter whether he actually pulled the trigger.
so the murder weapon may not be as important as I thought.
