This dark blue versus purple game is absurd.

A team quarterbacked by AsseniFisher would crush Notre Dame.

Do AAF teams only have 1 uniform? There was a game last night where I couldn't tell the teams apart

annnnnd much like with the old XFL, much less chatter about Week 2 than Week 1. Concerned. Troubling. Other synonyms.

Zac Stacy's the best player I've seen so far and his team is just terrible. 21 on memphis had one of the worst coverages on a TD I've ever seen, he's probably playing zone at first and the WR goes inside gets the ball but he loafs, then sees the WR is trying to dodge his teammates kinda gets there but the WR ends up going around him, so he loafs watching then the WR is again slowing down trying to dodge his teammates but he's loafing so he can't get there in time, touchdown. Just cut his ass.

XFL is also known for SKYCAM. That's the biggest issue, anything good the NFL is just gonna steal it also loved scramble for the ball instead of coin toss, but someone got a big injury right away so they scrapped it. I also remember Jesse Ventura blasting the hell out of NY's coach for being too conservative.

Liked the AAF having the skycam on the punt returner rather than the traditional punter/line where only the rams that's reasonable to do.

There's been plenty of leagues with real coaches that just flamed out immediately over the years, hopefully this one sticks, I like that cities that don't have teams got teams, it's too early in the year to play football in omaha, but those guys will tailgate about anything, (the old XFL, the new one gave one to TB and the bucs stadium for some reason, should've skipped that one with no other team anywhere around them)

NFL should move the draft back up, make it pro bowl week, have the draft picks play in the AAFL.

That's a pretty solid idea wheatrich.

re: draft picks play in the AAFL.

I always feel like it's such a long time waiting for the NFL DARFT anyway.

I wondered what happened to Escobar to end up in AAF - thought he was on the rise as a decent TE with Dallas

Idea:

10k straight cash homie to each player on the winning team every game.

Imagine the tension/pressure/sideline drama that is added

The XFL gave everyone on the winning team $2500 more each week.

The Wikpedia entry for XFL:
Quote:
NBC and the WWF both lost $35 million on their $100 million investment in the league's inaugural season
So the AAF got $250mm, plus obviously prior investment. Hopefully they'll at least get a second season.

Not making payroll week 1 would have been a spectacularly bad look

I'm glad someone pointed that out.

What the hell is with those jersey combos? Maybe it just looks bad on TV and was more apparent in person, but those colors were way more similar than they ever should have been.

Now everyone knows how red green color blind people felt a few years back when the NFL didn't think through the crazy color uniform week or month a few years back.

Reminded me of rec league soccer as a 10 year old when both teams showed up with identical jerseys.

Fell into a bit of an XFL hole on Wikipedia (didn't realize Alvin Harper of the Cowboys' 90s dynasty and Steve Gleason both played in the XFL).

Mike Furrey played there, too, but the crazy thing is that in 2005 he was the Rams starting free safety for 11 games - had 4 picks, 8 pds and 48 tackles, then in 2006 he had 98 catches and over 1000 yards for Detroit.

Furrey is probably one of the top 5 XFL guys in terms of NFL careers after it and he did nothing in the XFL (one TD), then two arena years, never got a TD on the rams and only got about a couple hundred yards in two seasons, was forced to play the secondary due to injuries in 2005, then the Lions sign him as a WR and he gets a 1000 yd season.

and Furrey had to go to the secondary again in 2009 on the Browns due to secondary injuries.

A WR to have to go back there happens what maybe once every two seasons or or so but what a unique career Furrey had.

Kind of disappointed to see AAF taking on the role of a minor league to the NFL. Would prefer to see them compete with the NFL like the USFL did. Maybe that's a long-run plan.
Rumor is HeHateMe Jr. is going to be in the XFL reboot.

Gotta feel bad for Nathan Peterman, if Christian Hackenberg actually got an opportunity in the NFL he might not be considered one of the worst ever.

Also how the hell have I not been betting against Memphis every damn week, I'm not sure the offense has actually generated points all season (that one game they didn't get shutout was basically entirely due to turnovers)

Hack has been benched for Mettenberger. Might be the last time we ever see him throw a football in a professional league, sad end to a what the hell were all of them thinking era.

Christian Hackenberg is so bad that: In 2016 the Bucs traded up to take a kicker they cut after one season, and we can't even be sure that was the worst pick of the second round that year.
AAF Thread Quote
02-23-2019 , 10:38 PM
yeah that's based on criteria--Hack doesn't have negative win shares because he rode the bench and he also didn't cost third and fourth round picks but man he never got a single reg season snap at quarterback despite being on THE JETS.

I guess he was the more loltastic out of the two because everyone thought he was bad except NFL front offices. It was just a handful of guys on twitter/2p2 that thought aguayo was way overrated.
