This was from MSNBC, so consider the source!

But, for football to return by September (at least with fans), there will need to be a massive shift in the mentality of Americans.

The NFL needs to immediately create a plan that they release to the public announcing the procedures they are planning on putting in place. Obviously, as new things and data becomes available, they need to release that information.

My idea of a plan:

Based on current data, this is how we plan on reopening Football in September:

1) Limiting stadiums to 1/3rd capacity. We are working with all teams on how to creating lotteries so all season ticket holders are accomodated.

2) Each team will be required to add additional security for mandatory temperature checks for all fans attending.

3) Concession stands will be eliminated. Based on state laws, you are free to bring in your own food and beverage.

4) We are working with each team to create a process to enter and leave the stadium while maintaining 6 feet of distance.

5) If you do not live in the same household, you do not sit next to another.

6) We are working with each team to create a process to enter and exit restroom while maintaining 6 feet of distance.

I think the NFL needs to get ahead of this now and start getting people feeling comfortable about attending games come September.

Additionally, creating a lottery system for season ticket holders needs to happen now!

Any other thoughts on things the NFL should do to safely reopen football in September?

if we get a second wave in the fall sports could have millions of deaths on their hands. oh well, profits for rich people are the only thing that matters in this country.

I don't know what this is supposed to mean, but the source is an NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist Poll that surveyed 1,008 adults between April 21st and April 26th. Adults 18 years of age and older residing in the contiguous United States were contacted on landline or mobile numbers and interviewed by telephone using live interviewers. The samples were then combined and balanced to reflect the 2017 American Community Survey 1-year estimates for age, gender, income, race, and region. Results are statistically significant within ±3.4 percentage points. There are 851 registered voters. The results for this subset are statistically significant within ±3.7 percentage points.

Temperature checks are useless.

this thing will end. we will get a vaccine. but i think shutting down the world...look you guys know the score, "opening up" like this poll shows for sporting events...my expectations for how this works are low. maybe 25% capacity at the malls or in general. 50% output. travel, business bankruptcies, demand collapse, rent isn't paid...

i liken it to a torn knee in the 80's. like a bernard king joe namath torn knee. they came back. it got "fixed". They scored points or threw hard. but they were done forever being a juggernaut. this isn't some bump or "V" shape. imo. This is a bum knee that we will feel for a generation.

I heard the poll as reported on MSNBC. Point was, I didn't want to get in an argument on the source.

As far as "millions of people will die", I don't think you understand that roughly 300,000 Americans will die from this disease either way. Everything we are doing as a nation is to slow the spread so people can get treatment when they need it, so the number isn't 600,000 due to lack of ventilators and hospital beds.

If hospitals are not stressed, play the games!

Can’t attend the games when the seasons are cancelled.

There won’t be football this fall, so no need to do all that planning of how to seat fans in stadiums with no games.

Happy to make a cheesesteak bet, or something along those lines.

May not be played with fans, or a shortened season, but there will be some version of the NFL season. Maybe delayed and played through November-March, or something, but the season will happen in some fashion.

~9% are wrong

yes, it's almost certainly a bad idea that would result in more deaths

if sports are gonna happen, just watch from home for now

Well, if that many people aren't going to show up that's social distancing sorted

September is a long way away!

Think the NFL, like all companies should begin putting together guidance on things they want to do.

Additionally, would like to see the teams sending surveys to season ticket holders asking what they would like to see to come back to the games.

Sports with no fans must certainly be evaluated as an option.

I really wanted to watch an astros game this season and boo **** the **** out of them. I am okay just watching sports from home though it beats dying and spending money.

nah

also, leagues like the nfl get so much money from tv as opposed to gate that they should def play in empty stadiums until it's healthy for ppl to congregate
(which could be a year or two away, if not longer)

if they're gonna play at all (prob will)

Yeah, your plan does not work in any way whatsoever. Every step of it is useless or counter productive. There is not a stadium in North America where you can practice social distancing at even 10% capacity. Even at your 1/3 capacity, that's probably 3 hours to get into a stadium.

Even today watching from home is pretty much superior to going to a game - why would anyone want to put up with extra restrictions?

Maybe they can fill the stadium with speakers and fans can buy a the use of a speaker to scream into during the game.

They couldn't even get 16 Chargers fans to yell behind Goodell during the draft...

I know I don't want fans yelling from behind me and above me, for 3 hours or more. That's the worst possible scenario.

Put me in the back row and I'm ok.

I don't really understand this thinking. Many sports are being played right now and some are even restarting.

There absolutely will be football this fall. The real question is what happens when the 2nd wave hits? When does that happen?

Sports will be played this summer and fall, but will be shutdown again, and we will just see when that happens.

If we get home self testing connected to an app that you can use like a stubhub ticket for admission, there is no reason why we can't have games just like before CV.

What team sports are being played in the US?

And lots of states are opened now, so we will have a “second wave” (really just part of first wave, but semantics) by June, eliminating any chance of football starting up

Also, I read that NCAA sports will only happen if schools have students back on campus, and that isn’t happening either

I'm a huge soccer fan...did a Bundesliga tour in November with my son.

We watch soccer all the time on TV.

The current games, without fans, are not engaging or really watchable. It's like watching a scrimmage. The golf event with DJ/Rory was even worse...plus factor in that they were playing for no stakes, and the only reason to watch was to see a very exclusive course never seen on TV.

Notre Dame and a few others already have announced students will be back. Will see if that's the case in a few months
