yall like to compare to much, just be happy we get good entertainment but i agree the medal count is flawed.
for basketball why no 3point contest, dunk contest etc. should just be 1 gold for the event. swimming and other sports have way too many golds given out.

Also having all the different strokes seems weird. The goal is to swim from A to B as quickly as possible, why is there a different stroke count? It's like race walking (which is being deleted as an event I think after this year) in addition to regular running

Like if high jump had one competetion for the fosbury flop and one for jumping straight over face first, and one for jumping over feet first or something and gave out 3 medals for that, and if there was a 100m dash, then also a 100m dash where you had to put your hands on your head, then a 100m dash where you had to hop on one foot or something. The goal of high jump is to jump over the thing, why you gonna give somebody a gold who does a worse job while simultaneously handicapping themselves with a bad technique?

Wat. Handball is awesome. I never saw it growing up in the USA, but now it's one of my favorite sports to watch. Games are pretty quick and usually have lots of scoring and it's not like one country dominates.

Handball GOAT altho the rulebook is a bit wacko. I can see how it doesn't make sense to people who aren't familiar. It's kinda similar to women's soccer in that the Olympics aren't necessarily its biggest event though

Running of any sort is obviously the most international event. They aren't playing tennis in the snow up in Canada or down in the sands of Mexico.

Golf is just expensive all around to build a course and for the playas.

Trying to swing a best athletes swimming remark, but will get banned(may still).

I agree with this - if you are not considered the best at your sport after winning a gold, that sport should go.

Or they could also add a twist to the sport not found anywhere else - like playing 54 holes of golf in one day using only 3 clubs.

I also forgot cricket, the 2nd most popular sport in the world. Also the first team sport to feature at the Olympics.
