Canada running some 200 metre semi. Degrasse running fast enough for gold. U.s Lyle in the race before, fastest world time, acts a fools before the race and slows down to qualify giving it to a Canadian, Brown. Degrasse for gold would be nice

USA is a lock to win Gold in basketball, right?

I'm tempted to throw a lot at it even though the payout isn't great. But basically guaranteed money?....

I mean, they're obviously huge favourites but that's reflected in the very poor payout. Certainly wouldn't call it "guaranteed money"

would hardly call longer than -300 a lock

I don't even follow Basketball tbh but it's USA

The odds have been dropping and not sure I feel like being the donkey throwing a large sum at something I don't know much about and losing for a poor payout.

De Grasse looked strong in his heat. Finals in 40 minutes. I hope it lives up to the hype.

All these 16 year old kids I see trying skateboarding tricks in the streets around where I live must be gutted that they’re already past it.

Great run by De Grasse and I think the mens 200m final lived up to the hype. I hope that Knighton can progress. His starts could definitely use some work, but there is a lot of promise.

always enjoy when that kind of thing happens
10.12 100m and 8,24m long jump is an insane start to a decathlon.

Just caught up on the Women's Skateboarding.
That was so much fun. The way all of the girls completely support and cheer each other throughout is a breath of fresh air.
Crazy to think the bronze medalist, Sky Brown, had a fractured skull last year from a fall and she's only 13. Silver medalist is 12!

yeah, i assume those are 2 of his better events
shot put not so much, but he clutched up with a decent 3rd toss to snag some extra points

currently 300-400 points up on the guy with the wr (hold!)

I love this idea. But in all ‘seriousness’ you could probably only pick individual sports and that don’t require bracket playoffs ie boxing would probably take too long.

Generally in the extreme sports it's more about the camaraderie and about pushing the limits to pull new tricks.

I'm no skateboarding expert myself but the standard of the girls was pretty low. The men's competition should be much better.

There was obviously a gap in skill between female and male BMX freestyle riders but I must admit I was impressed by the standard of some of the women in the competition.

It's a pretty great start to their Olympic careers. Next games when they're washed for skateboarding, they're hitting prime age for swimming and gymnastics

I wish they made decathlon a little easier to follow (ie how scores correlated to points)

I'm surprised it's not more celebrated as a sport - it's like being the best at everything.

IMO, it's like not being good enough at anything.

I like watching elite athletes compete in their events. While the decathlon athletes are certainly elite... watching them labor through some events isn't appealing to me.

I agree with your comment about scoring, but the scoring is complicated and I think the announcers do their best.
