Anyone here would be happy with JJ Mcarthy? I guess as a Jets fan I wouldn't mind it, but.. I wouldn't really be thrilled. He really doesn't seem all that special for all the hype he is getting. But what do I know. How would feel if your team drafted him?

Depends on the draft position. #1 sounds bad, #101 like a steal.

First of all, what hype am I missing out on? I haven't seen anyone other than Jim Harbaugh tout him as anything more than maybe the 4th best QB available.

But to answer the question, it would depend entirely on where he went. Would I want my team to trade up and take him top 5? Nah. But if he's there when they pick late in the first, sure, that's fine. Or if he falls anywhere into the 2nd round, you betcha. I'd be thrilled to get him as a second round pick.

Anything in particular you have him as not particularly special? He doesn't have the flashy stats, but he has very good tools. Well above average athleticism, very good if not quite howitzer arm strength, good pocket presence, sound in the ability to make reads. Tough - played through injury.

I think he'll test well and will go in the middle of the first round to a team that doesn't need him to start day 1.

i think a QB needy team can be very happy. kid has some nice tools and is athletic. he's #24 on Brugler's new top 100 'big board' released today. he'll be QB4 on draft night. he won't be available past pick #15. here's Dane's short write-up

No, the Michigan offense didn’t regularly lean on McCarthy to push the ball downfield with his arm. But McCarthy executed when his team needed a play, which often came on third or fourth down. He has the arm and athletic talent that will translate well to the pro game, and his intangibles are off the charts.

Many roll their eyes at win-loss records for quarterbacks, but NFL teams care about that stat, and McCarthy finished 27-1 as a starter at Michigan with a national championship. (He also went 36-2 in high school and won a state title.)

Although McCarthy is far from a polished product, it is easy to see why an NFL team would spend a first-round pick to invest in his future.

I guess I didn't really figure him being a first round pick. I wouldn't even think of it, we need o-line so bad.. but Zach Wilson can't stay. He got concussed but really he didn't want to play anymore, everyone knows it, so he can't be back. We have a 90 year old starter and a pick at 10. And like clockwork an article came out like mins ago....

The Jets’ best chance at grabbing an elite talent comes from the help of Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy.

I swear I'm plugged straight into the matrix hive mind sometimes.

Oh well. It may be happening. We need o-line or everyone is goona die regardless.

Unless something bad happens between now and draft day, it looks highly unlikely that he's not going in the first round.

I've seen a couple mocks that had him in the 20's but the vast majority have him between #6 (Giants) and #19 (Rams). Some mocks have Bo Nix as QB #4 but most have JJ #4 and Nix #5.

BTW, Jets drafting a QB instead of help for Rodgers sounds hilarious. Fingers crossed for that to happen to him again.

you don't need to worry about the NYJ taking J.J. w their first pick. they'll be taking their highest rated OT w that pick

Joe douglas basically bet his job on Rodgers. Which is literally the only reason he won’t go qb

But god plz go qb

there is a Pats dynasty 10 part doc on apple TV that drops tomorrow? wasting no time

lol theyre gonna milk that thing more than jordan or the celts/lakers 80s rivalry

There are moments when “Dynasty” hits hard. Episode 6, “At All Costs,” features Aaron Hernandez, posing for a preseason promo, staring at the camera with dead eyes before breaking into a grin. Teammates of the late Hernandez, convicted of one murder and indicted for two others, clearly still struggle with the revelations about the man they knew and the man who died by his own hand in prison. (“I think he’s got such a good heart,” cameras catch Kraft saying to Belichick during practice. Belichick doesn’t reply.)

Lol at Vinovich telling the other ref on 3rd&4 that SF has to bring their best play now so Mahomes doesn't get the ball back.

Didn't even know refs talked about the game like that. He's obviously right though.

My guesses:

1. Fields to Oakland
2. Womp to Pats
3. Darnold to Falcons

Everyone else stays put

Interestingly, both Wilson (-110) and Fields (-130) are favored to go to the Steelers on DK.

Good article. For the QB deals, as a terrible gm.. but I dont care... I am 100% paying Goff what he wants. Window is wide open. Jordon Love.. pay the man. Dak.. hit the bricks. Lawrence mid tier money only. And my worst decison is I ain't doing a blockbuster deal for Tua. Glass Joe is not taking me down.

Derek Carr getting 37.5mm per year and $60m fully guaranteed and Daniel Jones getting $40m per year and $81m guaranteed really **** things up for the Fins and Packers

Cousins is going to need to top Carr at the very least, so minimum $40m + per and probably at least 2 years fully guaranteed

Tua is going to want to clear those figures at least and I'm sure his agent is going to ask for $50m. It's easy for us all to say no way, but it's way tougher for the Fins given the lack of alternatives out there. (although I would try to offer Baker Mayfield half that amount as I think he's pretty similar to Tua)

Love might not have the body of work to justify $50m and the Packers may be able to get out cheaper than that, but his potential and the way he came on at the end of last season suggest he can't get less than Jones. He cost himself plenty of leverage by signing that silly extension last offseason

Regarding Cousins, all I've read says that he wants two years with guaranteed money in the second year and that the Vikings aren't willing to go there. If he doesn't budge they will let him find out if anyone else is willing to offer that to him.

Maybe it's the Vikings bluffing though because of the cap hit if he leaves.
