Not saying it won't happen, but the Eagles spent a 2nd rounder on Cam Jergens 2 years ago.

cut and paste of a Robert Mays tweet

The 2025 Denver Broncos have 23 players under contract. Here are the ones slated to make more than $2 million:

Zach Allen
Mike McGlinchey
Courtland Sutton
Ben Powers
Alex Singleton

So the very expensive 2023 FA class and a WR who lives on the trade block. Interesting team!

(back with me)

can anyone say 'total rebuild'? I'm not sure at what point Sean Payton became totally unlikable, or if he always has been and I didn't realise it, but there's no team that I want to fail more than the Broncos right now and they've always been one of the more likable teams over the last 30 years IMO.

I don't think he was ever really "likable". Probably got some leeway early on in New Orleans because he turned the team around right after Katrina. After the bounty scandal I think Drew Brees was the only reason a lot of people still rooted for New Orleans. Obviously not his fault he has resting b**** face but the guy already looks extremely unlikable and half the time he speaks it just sounds super condescending.

Dolphins get that big body receiving TE they need by signing Jonnu Smith.

30 of 44 TEs this past season in ESPN's receiving metrics

24 of 58 in 2022

23 of 57 in 2021

Despite the ban, at the time I thought that he was a patsy for the Bountygate stuff and not a contributor but that seems naive now

They all pretty much blend together once you get past (in no order) Kittle, Kelce, La Porta, Hockenson, and Andrews.

Plus he's got to be better than Smythe, right? RIGHT?????

IIRC, when Morse signed with Buffalo after 4 years in KC they made him the highest paid center in the league at that time.
I'd be lying if I said I had any clue about Morse being integral in the designed runs for Josh. My guess is probably.

Anyway, by all accounts he was very good here. You're also probably right about him being the highest paid center when he signed.

People in KC were sad when he left. Seemed like an overall great dude on top of a very good center.

History might repeat itself with Creed Humphrey probably looking to become the highest paid center in the league with his rookie contract up after next season. There are questions how many QBs not named Mahomes could deal with his low snaps though.

I’m puzzled by the Chiefs not signing Sneed to a long term deal - I’ve read he’s available for a 2. Seems exactly the kind of player you’d want to sign to a long deal.

Can't pay everyone even with the higher cap. They had to decide between Sneed and Jones and will try to sign the latter. They also need to extend Humphrey and Bolton at some point or risk losing them.

Asking price is lower because of high salary and concerns about his need.

I’d definitely rather have Sneed than a 5-11 linebacker.

I’m not sure what concerns about his need is…potentially knee?

Chiefs have a ton of space on their cap in 2025 right now. Of course that goes but imo CB is the second most important position on defence and he seems to be a perfect fit with Spags

ok so it was the knee

curious timing for that report to be released....almost as if the Chiefs were trying to decrease Sneed's leverage. Of course it reduces their trade price as well but if that's not their intention...

Everyone in KC wants to keep Sneed. And yes, CB is super important in Spags D but at least they still have an all-pro there.

Also nobody wants to see other FA like Gay or even Allegretti leave but that's the price you pay for winning in a salary cap league. In a perfect world they would keep the same team from last season and use the draft and FA to add 2-3 new WRs and a new left tackle.

As of right now they have $120mil of 2024 cap space committed to Mahomes/Tuney/Taylor. Adding $50mil for Sneed and Jones would be pretty difficult. I thought they might find a way but it looks like they won't get an agreement with Sneed. Which would suck significantly less if they at least got a low first rounder for him.

Another downside of winning is that KC had only two top 20 picks in the past decade. Marcus Peters at #18 and their current QB for who they had to trade up from #27 to #10. This is the sixth draft in a row where their own pick is #29 or lower.

Lol, thanks Tom. I couldn’t for the life of me figure out why our beloved Manning was getting lumped in with Sean Payton.

Sneed sat out a lot of practices late in the season and playoffs because of his knee. It's common knowledge that there's some issue with it.

It's not common knowledge he sat out practices late in the season with a knee injury. He was listed on the injury report all season because of his knee but never missed any time after week 3. Maybe he was a LP a couple times, but that's it. When he missed significant time starting before week 17 through the playoffs, the listed injury was always "calf" not knee.

He missed significant time during training camp with a knee injury though and that kept him a LP through week 3 of the regular season.

Most of the pundits I listen to seem to think "calf" was really knee. L'Jarius, your calf is hurting, RIGHT? Yeah. Ok, we'll put that down.

NFL free agency: Best and worst deals of the last 4 years and where all 32 teams rank

Quote:
A refresher on the methodology: Using contract figures from Over the Cap, we determined the amount of cash spent on each of 897 free agent signings over the past four seasons — 2020 through 2023. We only included free-agent signings who received at least $1 million in cash, and we also only included free agents who signed before the start of the regular season.
Quote:
Once we had the cash amount for each free agent, we had to cross-reference it with value data. Unlike in baseball with Wins Above Replacement, there is not an ideal statistic to use for this. However, Pro Football Reference has a statistic called Approximate Value (AV) that is about as close as we can get. It is not perfect, and that is something to keep in mind when reviewing the results of our study. Pro Football Reference describes AV as “an attempt to put a single number on the seasonal value of a player at any position from any year (since 1960).”
