Seems like there are way more lightning delays nowadays. Used to just play on mostly. It's probably a combination of more legal awareness and summer storms going later and later into the calendar.

When a tornado came through my yard 20 years ago the linemen from the electric company's office (half-mile away) were in their bucket trucks restringing the lines in front of our house while lightning was still popping all around us. They literally got to the road before we were able to because of the downed trees. Balls of steel! My first thought was that I don't know what these guys are getting paid, but it isn't nearly enough.
