Of course, it can. The Jets have lots of problems that are covered up by people thinking everything is the QBs fault. Saleh should be happy that Rodgers got injured. It's given him an excuse that has allowed him to keep his job this season.

The Jets certainly have more problems than QB, but Zach is definitely a big problem. I think this team's floor to this point would have been 6-4 with Rodgers.

Everyone knew Zach was bad before this season began. Unfortunately, the Jets were locked into having him as their backup because of his cap hit.

Over 32 career games, 186 yards per game, 56.6% comp percentage, and a 21/25 TD/INT ratio. Career passer rating of 71.9 and career QBR of around 32. It's time to see what someone else can do. But yeah, I guess realistically it's possible someone like Tim Boyle could do worse, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Of course there can be people worse than Wilson, but it should never have taken this long to realize he's not the guy for the job. When you have the wrong guy, sometimes you have to roll the dice.

It would have been better for the Jets if they'd gotten wafflecrushed right out of the gate, and then they could have ripped the band-aid off by pulling Zach quickly. Instead they started 4-3, but at least 3 of those wins came because they ran hotter than the sun in terms of opponents doing stupid **** (and the defense being good enough to take advantage, I'll give 'em credit for that). So it becomes easy to rationalize that if you're patient with the QB you can mold him into a decent game manager that just doesn't outright lose them games, and maybe this trend can continue where the defense keeps winning them for you.

But this isn't some otherworldly '85 Bears defense or anything, so that idea was just wishful thinking too.

I was upset during the summer when rodgers was healthy that they passed up zappe who was put on waivers right after camp.

It was in one of these threads and yea i got laughed at. Ok zappe isnt montana. But anyone watching Jets last year knew it was the worst qb play we have ever seen. He actually played a bit better this year and still is awful. What ever miracle they were looking for just makes me think jets gm, douglas, is an idiot. Zach' already spent money or not, they coulda had zappe for 60 bucks. And it would have spared me for rooting for zach, turning me into a whore. I feel dirty, abused and unloved.

Boyle gonna die. Oline makes Zack look like a allstar. Team is poorly built. Injuries on oline don't matter, they all suck.

Also, taking a huge shot at giving 75 mill to an old qb, thinking this will give you a superbowl, with the worst oline ever assembled falls again on Joe Douglas. Woody coming out in bling for all the NFL to see opening night... priceless.

Based on the recent Devante Adams rumors they plan on doubling down on that approach. FWIW, Rodgers is going to be 40 by the time he throws his next pass in a game.

I almost forgot too Becton got injured Sunday and might be out for a least a couple of games with a possible high-ankle sprain. Someone tell Boyle to retire before it's too late.

Is there some kind of deep dive on how this Boyle guy is even in the NFL at all? He was terrible for three years at UCONN, transferred to Eastern Kentucky and had an 11-13 TD/INT ratio as a 5th year senior. Somehow gets signed by the Packers and apparently got picked up by the Jets cause he’s friends with Rodgers.

They couldn’t give a fifth for Dobbs? Wtf

Yeah if it is actually a high ankle sprain, zero chance a guy his size can really put weight on it effectively enough to play LT anytime soon. Better odds of Rodgers playing before he does, lol.

Jets named Siemian as the backup too.

Saleh really did finally crack. It was probably the moment when Zach tripped over himself jogging backwards reentering the game.

Tiki Barber on his radio show here was saying the thing about Zach that indicated he had no chance, is that he made the easy stuff look hard, which I think sums it up. Like he could make a nice throw downfield here and there, but in between he'd badly miss guys on short swing passes, manage to miss his first read completely and wind up running for his life when the ball should have been out after ~.5sec, etc.

I'd be interested to know if Zach genuinely thinks he's an NFL caliber QB, or if he's just happy to collect a paycheck.

I think you are undervaluing the value of winning one or two super bowls for a franchise. If the jets got adams this year and Godgers, adams and wilson don't get hurt we are talking about massive favorites to win 2 or more super bowls over the next 3 years.

Rodgers should just say he suffered some kind of set back and hang it up. This team blows. The D is not as good as advertised and the Oline is awful. They have no resources to change stuff next year. He’s gonna get blown up limping around with a 40 year old reconstructed Achilles.

Just pack it in and go out semi on top with the great “what if” story instead, imo.

He's probably getting injured again (or faking an injury) to make sure he collects his full $75mil.

Might be best for the Jets to give up on the season and trade up for a QB in next years draft.

He has undoubtedly already researched what is the least painful season-ending injury and how to sustain it.

Narrator: He actually did do his own research on this subject.

he was never going to play. this is all about attention for him and the media just laps it up. the whole thing is an epic PR stunt.

It's not about throwing the ball, it's about movement in the pocket and being able to evade pressure/take a hit. He is rehabbing away from the team in California and then flies back to the game, does his photo opportunity out on the field but is apparently limping the rest of the time

Ravens
Chiefs
Eagles
49ers

Bills look awful and might be a 40-1 shot but I think they still can.

Agreed he’s just trolling this year.

I’m saying he should just drag out the “rehab” into training camp next year and suddenly retire.

Lol Rodgers and all but the jest are a viable contender today with a halfway competent qb. Not throwing their hat in the ring for dobbs was a monumental error

Douglas and salah are betting their careers on this guy which is truly unfortunate but here we are. Don’t blame them for making the adams rumors this obvious, they really don’t have a choice at this point
