This is correct.

Mod Note: Do not be doing this. If you're gonna do this you're gonna have a bad time.

I need to keep my streak alive of only giving out winners, especially at WR (look it up, I gave out Justin Jefferson and Chris Olave).

This year my favorite WR is Jalin Hyatt. I’m not saying he’ll be the best WR in this class (though he might be), but I am saying he’s gonna be a hit. Most pundits have him as WR4 - WR8 or so…. Fringe-first round or a day 2 pick.

All he did at Tennessee was run go routes outside the numbers and win jump balls. Over and over and over again. He’s got the speed to get open deep, and the ball skills to come down with contested catches.

A lot of pundits have Jaxon Smith-Njigba from Ohio State as the first WR off the board. I think he’s overrated, and the hype has gone out of control. I don’t mean to downplay his productivity in college, which was significant. I’m just pointing out he’s strictly a slot WR at this point, and needs to go to the perfect situation to flourish at the next level.

A team like the Giants, who desperately need WR help, would be quite stupid to take JSN. They already have 3 or 4 smaller, shiftier slot guys, and they badly need someone who can win on the outside.
Do you want the undertitle "Only Gives Out Winners" ?

If so, I can post in the mod forum and hook it up!

this ain't happenin. CIN needs a TE(s) and a RB(s) but will lean into the depth of these position groups and not target them in Round 1 (although Gibbs could be a surprise pick for CIN at #28). CIN will likely target a premium defensive position (DL or CB) in Round 1 (or trade down)

also, Musgrave ain't all that

Trading for the 30th pick might be cheaper than trading for the 31st pick.

Hahaha YES that would be amazing and hilarious!

Sometimes I’m spectacularly wrong, too…. Which makes it even funnier.

I think one could find receipts from when I said Devonta Freeman was better than peak Le’Veon Bell… we remember them both as being bad towards the end, but that call was amusingly wrong for a while

Yeah, I was just looking at general needs, certainly some people have him with a first round grade but definitely agree that they may well just trade down in this spot. Thought about Gibbs but I'm not sure he's quite a first round pick, would think Cincy would take someone like a Charbonnet on day two, dependent on what they're actually thinking of doing with Mixon

I don't think the Chiefs are trading out with the draft in KC.

it's an honest assessment on your part

re Mixon he will be asked to take a significant pay cut. if he says no, he will be cut

re Gibbs, one of the two Athletic CIN beat reporters (Dehner, Jr. -- who is really good at his job) said that of all 32 NFL teams, CIN very well might be the best fit for Gibbs. opposing Ds are two high shelling the **** out of JOE and a dump off or two to Gibbs early in a game (Gibbs had one drop in 52 targets last season) will quickly bring Ds out of two high schemes

lastly, i'm not a fan of Charbonnet after reading this paywalled espn+ article

2023 NFL draft running back projections: Rankings, comparisons

Quote:
Here is how our Football Outsiders projections work. BackCAST projects NFL success based on statistics that have correlated with success in the past. Historically, a college running back who has a good size-speed combination, has a high average yards per carry and represented a large percentage of his college team's running attack is more likely to succeed at the NFL level. BackCAST considers these factors and projects the degree to which the running back will exceed the NFL production of an "average" drafted running back during his first five years in the NFL.

For example, a running back with a plus-50% BackCAST is projected to gain 50% more yards than the "average" drafted running back. BackCAST also projects whether each running back is likely to be heavily involved in the receiving game or is more of a "ground-and-pound" back.

What follows is a ranking of the top five BackCAST projections for running back prospects available in the 2023 draft, along with a pick for an overrated player in this class.
top 5

Bijan Robinson - BackCAST score: +121.8%

DeWayne McBride (UAB): +60.0%

Gibbs: +59.5%

Sean Tucker (Syracuse): +57.0%

Achane: +53.4%

most overrated back

Charbonnet: +15.1%

I'm not sure about the last sentence.

Teams have been playing a lot of cover-2 against KC for 2 full seasons now. Last year Mahomes started dumping off a lot but opponents kept playing cover-2 anyway even with no Tyreek Hill. Not sure if they'd stop doing it against Chase/Higgins.

it's a fair point but could also be a leak by the D at the same time?...

wasn't Mahomey's epa/per pass attempt better last season than the previous?

edit: to be clear, i don't want CIN to take Gibbs at #28

I fkn HATE when people do this.

Guy that hosts our draft party every year puts on a great spread, gets a Chik-fil-A party platter and collects & shares high end beers you never see on store shelves..........BUT he just cant help himself, follows twitter an unhealthy amount and has to find out the picks 30 seconds before everybody else.

So fkn annoying

Yes, he led the NFL in (almost?) all relevant EPA per dropback stats.

But he still had career lows in average pass length (7.2 yards) and % of passes 20+ yards downfield (9%). Those numbers were 23rd and 28th in the league respectively.

In 2018 he was at 9.1 and 15%. Both numbers have dropped every season since then because defenses keep trying to take away the deep ball.

I think he had one single TD pass last season that was thrown more than 20 yards downfield. Same number as CMC.

I could be mollified with some high end beers and good hot wings, but Chik-fil-A???

Yeah, the high end beers alone might be enough to tote the load. Doing it in an online forum though should be a felony.

I'd be really happy with this if I were an Iggles fan. the 1rd RB hate has become such a cliched overblown trope among NFL fans these days.

Sure it might be riskier from an analytics perspective but he's really ****ing good and supporting a team with a great RB is really ****ing exciting. And he's a consensus top 5 player in the draft that you can get lower in the 1st rd. My Ravens fan friend was saying the same earlier and I'm like bruh...getting him at 22 would be incredible!

Add him behind the top tier Iggles line and you'll have a guaranteed woody every Sunday for 3 years. Trust Howie to worry about contracts and filling out the roster and all the rest of it down the track and just enjoy it
