I say neither will come close to any super-star status.

I think if he lasts in the league he'll be some kind of serviceable oddity more so than a star or superstar. Far south of Ralph Sampson's first 3 seasons. Would be glad to be wrong but I don't see him as the heir apparent like James indeed did figure to be. Nothing like that. We'll see.
It seems to me that you have no real interest in discussing EDLC nor have any background knowledge necessary to discuss his value as a prospect, but simply using him as a prop to discuss your extremely fringe opinion about Wemby. I'm not sure how this is really on topic for the MLB thread.

Every team in the NL central has a negative run differential, which seems almost impossible but I guess that's due to the "balanced" schedule thingy. Seems wild that only 5 teams in the entire NL have a positive differential, and four of those are in the west.

I noticed when challenged you didn't come up with any other baseball prospects that are "incredible" and "electrifying" ... yet comparing him to the most sensational hoops prospect is meh. What's up with that? Can't see this type of comparison being off topic for baseball.

I'll keep it more to the baseball side of the stats. Of course it isn't easy to like Ellys K numbers and ratios. I'm having big trouble finding his switch-hitting splits from the minors. I want them. Gonna submit it to a near zero fail source, two of them actually. The last prospect that appeared with this type of skillz perhaps was Puig, with raw physical abilities better than Mays or Mantle, who most of us rightly analyzed would not actually become a star. He certainly had some huge moments and presence in the postseason, but never put up anything approaching star numbers over his career, and, somehow, didn't figure to. (Keep that last part in mind with regard to Wemby.)

Elly declaring himself the fastest man on earth has a kind of Herschel Walker or Drama King LeBron ring to it. I think it's a little early for such grandiosity. At least some approach the level where it isn't just pure inanity to be talking like that. Elly hasn't, not quite, lol. The mind matters hugely in what the prospect becomes, especially the mega-prospect. Jury out on Elly and Wemby in this regard.

Like, is this a serious ****ing question? Do you not know how to look up prospect rankings? Do you literally not know players like Corbin Carroll and Gunnar Henderson?

Because it's a terrible comparison - EDLC is like a 60 FV type of prospect - I'm not even sure if he's a top-20 prospect in the last 10 years. Wemby is a generational prospect, literally being compared to the likes of Kareem & Lebron The only way to make them comparable is to bring Wemby down to like a standard lottery pick, which is a super fringe opinion and one that makes no sense to discuss here.

You can't possibly be following baseball at all if you think the last prospect that had this type of "skillz" was Puig. I mean, seriously, WTF? There's been so many prospects better than EDLC. I mean players like Wander Franco, Tatis Jr, Ohtani, Ronald Acuna Jr, Vlad Jr and more recently Corbin Carroll, Adley Rutschman and Gunnar Henderson were all more highly regarded than EDLC. And that's just position players (well Ohtani aside).

Ohtani seems to be in that rare zone where every AB is a must-watch. Kind of like Judge for much of the last season, just insane to watch. I was looking at Ohtani's scouting reports before his rookie season and it's interesting that his hit tool (bat-to-ball, basically the ability to make solid contact consistently) was rated so low coming to the US (30 to 35 now, 40 future on a 20-80 scale, where 50 = MLB average) given how well he hit in Japan (.322 BA at age 21, .332 at age 22). Can't imagine any prospect that puts up those numbers in AA or AAA would be rated so low and NPB is well ahead of AAA.

Yeah "seriously," "literally" and all your other drama BS. When a guy comes into the league that is perhaps both the fastest and most powerful player in the league, an extremely rare occurrence on par with Mantle and Mays, or Puig, that's a freak similar to the behemoth 3-point shooting wonder Wemby (29% from 3 btw, lol). Wemby's a Globetrotter type oddity. Not seeing him as near cant miss as Bron or Kareem, for god's sake. In fact I'd like to bet a parlay that neither makes the Hall of Fame, top 100 players, top 300 players, etc. Would never have done that for any of the other players mentioned here except ...... Puig!
