They can play azeez/Matt smith in all the cup games and zinchenko will be back soon enough. Also we have no idea where vieira fits in but he’s an option.

Kind of the same with wing IMO. Saka, martinelli, esr, Jesus, and maybe vieira can all play on the wing. It’s nice they’ve got some options. Who knows if they’re any good though. Is Reiss Nelson still around?

I know we are not deep enough in midfield.its all fun and games if you trot out Azeez agains Birmingham in the league cup but if we have to face say Chelsea or Spurs with a midfield like that we are ****ed.

Villa just announced Dendonker

I thought Dubravka to United was a joke, butnah

There is no chance we are not bringing in someone then. Our next midfield option is Rob Holding

Transfermarkt saying Soler is valued at 50M, Campos got him at 22+5. Someone got fleeced, i'll monitor this situation and come up with a trip report.

I think we could of used one more player given the injuries but I think we should be able to get by without (fingers crossed). Much like the striker in January not buying one prob made us lose 4th but it was also the correct decision to wait and get Jesus for 45 instead of isak for 75 or whatever. Just make due till the world cup and then plenty of time to reevaluate before the Jan xfer window.

We bought sambi to eventually replace partey, so let's use him till partey gets back. Unlike last year we have xhaka + saliba + zinchenko and White/tomi to a lesser extent really alleviates the pressure of sambi being the sole avenue for ball progression from defense through the middle 3rd.

Can always sign Ross Barkley when 80% of the midfield is on the shelf

I didn't expect us to spend 200m or sign 5 players this summer. Somehow we've managed to do so and still be praying Martial can stay fit and give more than the occasional ****.

Yeah, I’m with ao…can’t really be anything but happy with our window.

Our first XI is pretty damn great, but we do seem a few injuries from seeing some pretty weird lineups in the Europa/cups. Surprised Pepe went with no replacement. Fingers crossed for Saka’s health and prayers for Partey, who we are for some reason placing a great deal of faith in playing more than the 50% of games going forward.

I was.

And I'm going against my fellow arsenalists on this topic. I think we are paperthin and with a schedule that is coming up I think we will live to regret not adding a midfielder.

We were paper thin last year.

Adding Douglas Luiz wouldn't make a difference is we get 5+ injuries.

Crazy transfer window. But the best business we did, apart from appointing Kompany, was probably Jack Cork's new contract and keeping Josh Brownhill at the club despite PL interest.

My point is that we have 5+ injuries - most of them already in our most problematic area. Adding a player who is not injured in the most problematic area seems key.

If we want to keep this going we have to make sure that the person stepping in from the bench is not a gigantic fall in quality. Not sure who will start against United if Zinch/Partey/Elneny and now seemingly Odegaard is knackered.

The second paragraph is the difference from last season.

Last year we were 1 injury away from any 1 of Nuno, Cedric or Holding starting.

Now our weakest backups are GK (Turner) and Elneny.

Any club will struggle with a bunch of injuries, Arsenal aren't about to have 20+ good players, we didn't even have 11 last year.

Worst case scenario the lineup for United would be:

Turner
White Gabriel Saliba Tierney
Lokonga
ESR Xhaka
Saka Jesus Martinelli

Not the end of the world.

Oh by no means is this the end of the world or anything similar. Just stating that I think the ideal transfer window would have included a midfielder in the mix.

Probably my disappointment is worse as Tielemans was one of the first names linked with us in the beginning of the window.

Not too fussed we did not sign another player. I think our window has been a very good one. Driftwood gone and the players we did get in were bought early so could have a full pre season to bed themselves in.

If Villa want to play hardball with a player who knows now he can get a better contract next year because of leaving on a free then so be it.

Will the chavs unlock the Auba we had a couple of seasons ago or is he finally at the age where he is just getting his weekly wage to run around for a bit with minimal effort like he did with us at the end of his term?
