Kind of fun to see Habs and Sens with such bad draft grades.
Well, that data thing is on the premise of removing UFAs, so for the Caps, I think that means in the event that Ovi is not signed on top of the fact that that Caps team has an aging core as well.

I have no idea how Habs drafted talent wise but they were always getting graded an F after drafting Mailloux

yessss Bruins not going after Suter and his lol 4 years. Relief.

Can't believe it took Sweeney this long to learn logic.

Do they have to pay that contract though? Didn’t he get bought out? Can’t anyone pay him anything they want/he’d accept?

he's getting a new 4 year contract, that's what makes it terrible

I mean he gets the buyout money from the Wild (which is about $6.7M spread across 8 years) on top of the amount of whatever team decides to give him another four years (which any team should not give four years to Suter or Parise at this point. Maybe one year at a time, sure. But four? Really? There's a reason they got bought out from the Wild contracts with four years left.)

In for Getzlaf though, last stop before the glue factory

Don't let the tumbling point totals fool you - Anaheim's not a good hockey club right now. There's still some tread left on Getzlaf, just needs the right situation.

Something that caught my eye: looking at more defensive-focused microstats...Getzlaf actually compares quite favourably to Krejci, who I'm assuming would be the guy he'd directly replace if Krejci actually does walk (but I'll believe that when I see it, I think he retires a B). But ya...Getzlaf is still a 70th percentile defensive center relative to the rest of the league, Krejci closer to 65th percentile.

The first thing you lose w/ age are the legs, but it's not like Getzlaf was ever a burner at any point in his career. He still reads the game at an elite level; his positioning away from the puck is still top-notch; and he's one of the best passers of the last 20 years. You're not getting an all-action 200 ft. pivot who'll win his own pucks off the forecheck...instead, you're getting a "180 ft." pivot who'll be happy to hang high and facilitate for more dynamic wingers who can bust into lanes and open themselves up for quick hitters...

...sound like anyone in Boston? Perhaps a former 1st OV pick who just re-upped for $6m x 4 yrs? And has he ever had the luxury of playing alongside a center like Getzlaf? I think there's a real good fit there. Evolvin.g-Wi.ld bros have him projected at $2.1M for one year.* To me, that's no-brainer value if he's actually thinking about life beyond Anaheim.

Personally, would love to see him in Calgary between Mangiapane & Dube on a 2nd line behind Gaudreau/Lindholm/Tkachuk....but we shall see.

*Edit for clarification: Getzlaf isn't going to end up elsewhere for $2.1M x 1 obviously...just using that as a reference point to underscore he'd be great value at that price. I'd be fine with anything up to $4M x 2 for just about any club who had a fit for him.

Also...I'm still really broken up about losing Giordano. Great dude, and his family will be sorely missed out here - Mark & Lauren were legit community pillars.

MAF to Chicago for basically nothing, and no salary retained...and now he's talking retirement?

Uhhhhh

That’s VGK freeing up lots of cap space and he may not want to play for a bottom feeder, who actually might not be THAT bad this year.

yup it's on the news here to. would appear to be strictly a salary dump. MAF has previously said he would prefer vgk to be his last stop so I won't be shocked if he retires.

I can say this will not go over well here as MAF is by far the most popular vgk player. I hope Lehner has gotten over his mental issues cuz he's gonna get booed hard if he struggles.

MAF still has something left in the tank and I think he would move up that Blackhawks team a ton - certainly into the playoffs. personally I don't want to see him retire yet. he also would reunite with malcolm subban which I am sure is appealing (ok maybe not that last thing).

I wouldn’t be so sure he would bring that team into the playoffs, but they certainly could make the playoffs. Also, if Fleury plays, Lankinen more likely to be #2 that Subban.

Wait, what????

Again, there was like 3-4 other guys from the Kings that Seattle could have used on the roster or to flip that's better than Macdermid. This whole Macdermid saga is confusing.

That blows for Fleury. I'm surprised he didn't have trade protection, or maybe that went out of the window when he agreed(?) to go to Vegas in the expansion draft. Is he even on that same contract anymore? I'm too lazy to look it up, but never trust your employer, kids.

There may be a sad day when there's no #46 in the faceoff circle for the Bruins... but today is not that day

^^ Fleury has a M-NTC in his current deal, signed by Vegas. Probably did not have Chicago as a team to not be traded to.
