2021 NHL Offseason Thread: 2 Drafts and Free Agency - Page 15 - Sporting Events and Fantasy Sports

The ground rules were simple enough:

• These aren’t “our” picks, per se; they’re our best guesses at who each respective front office will select.
• Each roster lists 14 skaters, eight defensemen and three goaltenders.
• When possible, we wanted to show our work. There were plenty of close races, tough calls and disagreements, but we eventually reached a consensus.

Here’s our best shot — and certainly not our last. There are games left to play, after all.

Team Canada is nice but I dunno what this country has to do to produce better goalies.

When Price retires you can make the argument that there won't be a single good one. Thankfully in a short tourney he'll be plenty in 2022. But 2026? Yikes.

2026 is still five years away, some goalies are bound to come up. Also, if it plays out like in Sotchi, they could put Toronto's Zamboni driver in net and no one would notice.

It seems like a lot of the US' fortunes will depend on wether coaches realise that Jones and McDonagh are cooked (relatively speaking). And what the ****, Jacob Slavin is a yank? Too many damn North American players have European sounding names

However, in the event that either or both of Montreal's own 1st round pick and/or Carolina's 1st round pick are Top 10 picks in the 2022 NHL Draft (after the final Draft order has been established in accordance with the results of the 2022 NHL Draft Lottery), then Montreal will instead transfer to Arizona: i) the worse of Montreal's own pick and Carolina's pick (previously acquired by Montreal); and ii) Montreal's own 2nd round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft.

Dvorak, 25, suited up for 56 games with Arizona last season, recording 17 goals and 14 assists, in addition to winning 52.1% of his faceoffs. Of those 17 goals, eight were scored on the power play and four were game-winning goals. He ended the season with 12 penalty minutes and averaged 18:24 of ice time per game.

We spent less money. Dvorak has 4 more years at 4.45m and gave up a 2nd and got a 3rd. Not sure how Dvorak and KK compare but I think it's pretty fair.

Since our 1st to Arizona is now in play, that probably blocks us from being able to offer sheet Petterson or others.

A few people asked so I checked to make sure, but I'm told the Canadiens can't trade their other first-round pick until the conditions attached to the first-rounder in the Dvorak trade are met/determined. So definitely not before the trade deadline.

I guess the level one analysis is: KK has upside. CD is a legit number 2C now. Good at faceoffs. KK has bad contract this year, but he could agree to something decent going forward. CD is locked up for four years on a pretty good deal.
