I understand the young lady is traumatized. And maybe doesn't feel Mailloux has suffered enough. I also understand that Mailloux was not an adult. The law punished him. He has tried to apologize, is getting counseling, said all the right things.
I think this is true, we have to see how he behaves going forward. Habs f'd up though from a PR and probably karmically. Honestly, if Mailloux wanted to be drafted, I got no problem with drafting him, or him going to college to become a pharmacist, or becoming a bar tender...it's not as simple to me as he was punished (mailloux received a 14,300 SEK fine (approximately $1,640.00 USD), it's over. But the attempted apology, the counseling...idk seems enough to me for a 17 year old for what he did. But that is me, maybe someone else has all the answers for things like this.
What if he didn't have sex with her but told his friends he did and she got a "bad rep" and was clinically depressed. How many years we want for that? What he if punched a scrawny kid at a bar when drunk and detached his retina? He got a month in jail. Said he was drunk and he is sorry. What is the punishment for that?
