Larry Brooks wrote that the if the Rangers dealt Kappo Kakko that might ensure the Eichel trade to the Rangers. But only if the Sabres retained 5M of his annual salary. I think that would be a good deal for the Rangers because then it would allow us to re-sign Zib and have a great 1-2 center combo for the future. 5M is a lot of cap savings in this flat cap world. Kakko + Jones + a 1st for Eichel with 50% retained seems good to me. And I trust that if the Rangers trade for Eichel they know his neck is fine.

Brooks would only write that article if this trade idea was floated to him internally right? Rangers trying to prep the fans for trading Kakko who the fans love but I think he is too slow for the NHL game and is overrated. Eichel is just such a force even on a **** Sabres team, his corsi is insane.
