Well, I do support the players in their attempts to break their contracts when there’s no guarantees left, but I also think he’s handled it really badly and ruined his own chances of playing somewhere else this season.

To be fair, no top 25 QBoat has been treated as poorly as GB has treated him. As a packers fan I must say that the packers organization deserves everything Godgers is doing to them - including retiring, holding out and/or refusing to ever take another snap for GB. Hell, GB deserved this treatment from Godgers 5 years ago for keeping fatmike as the coach for so long.

with all the Rodgers talk I had to take a look down the rabbit hole to see how many MVPs he has actually won. I thought it was 2 but looks like he has 3. While looking at the list though I noticed that Rich Gannon was MVP in 2002. Is he the worst MVP in the history of the league? I mean, wtf. I do remember that team in a way but not much about Rich Gannon after that season. Crazy stuff there. One hit wonder.

There is no chance Rich Gannon is the worst MVP all time. A ton of RBs have won it.

Over a 4 year period, he made the PB 4 times, 2 time first team all-pro. His MVP year he threw for 4689 yards and 26 tds and rushed for 150 more yards. The stats at the time were very good.

A kicker won the MVP--Mark Moseley in a strike shortened 1982 season.

Emmitt won one in 1993; Shaun Alexander had a hell of a year when he won it but still lol RB.

A real one year wonder is Brian Sipe--a Cleveland Browns QB in 1980 who had an MVP season but never made another PB or AP team. Bert Jones in 1976, a very similar story--he lead the Colts but and lead the league in passing yards and 24 tds and 9 ints which was great for the time but never another AP team, mvp or PB other than 1976.

Rodgers led the league in most QB stats with weapons way worse than the other MVP front runners had. When you consider that plus the face that Brady was at or above league average this past year (after adjusting for the talent around him) at 43 that means Godgers can be a top 10 (maybe top 5?) QB until he's 45ish so he still has 8 years left of being a super bowl contender.

So getting 2 firsts and giving up 7 years of a super bowl window is not a good deal. Keep in mind that most teams that Godgers would be traded to are going to be super bowl contenders so your two first will likely be around the 5th pick for 2022 and the 28th in 2023.

There is no difference between GB having $1M in cap space and $1B in cap space. If they have extra money laying around they will buy more houses around lambeau to tear down to build another hotel or more bars.

Aaron Rodgers has one Super Bowl ring, one Super Bowl appearance, and 13 years as a starter.
