I think you have to be a big Dodger fan to like Joe Kelly. He reminds me of the guys that like to stare people down at the poker table until they get smacked around a little.
Some guy at Fenway wore a "Joe Kelly fight club" shirt on tuesday. Gave me a chuckle.
I am a fan of a team who will benefit from the expanded wild card playoffs this season but I agree the current format sucks. But I'm old school though and would prefer the 80's format to the current format. I also think 162 games is way too long of a schedule - baseball is a summer game and should be wrapping up by the time football starts.
IMHO I would like mlb to just have two leagues and no divisions. Get rid of interleague play. Each team has a home & home series vs. everyone else in their league. Top 4 teams from each league make the playoffs. All playoff rounds/world series are best of 7 games. Season over by the time football starts.
This current format has its issues. But sadly it looks amazing compared to the 14 or 16 (most likely 14) team format we’re likely to see next year.
