If I’ve said it once I’ve said it a thousand times

The world will be a better place when TLR is dead

I wouldn't go that far, but he is a POS and friends with Trump.

Stats for one PA don't matter? Interesting logic.

I thought giving your all each and everytime out was something we were supposed to admire in players. It seems you'd rather make a joke of the game by having players not try to play.

The 3 previous pitches weren't even close. He'd look silly making an out on of those pitches.

You are advocating that a player make a joke of the game by not trying to play anything resembling his baseball skills.

Large samples is key to player evaluation?

So you're stating that you are fine with professional athletes with millions on the line just going to the plate and just resorting to playing backyard baseball?

When **** hits arbitration it all blends together.

You guys still running out the starting QB up 77-0 in the 3rd too?

In short, yes. To send a message that when the shoe is on the other foot the other teams will do the same. Everyone’s W-L will be identical and everyone’s teams will be more prepared for future games.

You guys dunk on your 8 year old nephews?

Sports with time limits aren't relevant here.

In sports like tennis or baseball, you are forced to play the game until the end, until you've won enough points in tennis, or made enough outs in baseball. You might not make certain plays if the injury risk is high, and you might choose to not make certain plays (like stealing a base when up 10 runs). But you are up there to take an AB, and you are suggesting he make a joke of the AB but not trying.

The game is for the fans, and Yermin played baseball and gave the fans 10 seconds of excitement in an otherwise dumb game. Props to Yermin for playing the game the right way.

If anything I would say that giving him the take sign on a 3-0 pitch in a 16-4 game is the real joke move.

Swap any arbitration eligible players stats, one HR becomes a K. He losing millions? No one would even notice. C’mon.

One thing we can all agree on: the Twins sucking so bad that have to keep running La Tortuga out there.

Not sure I would characterize taking a hack at a 46 mph pitch 5 inches outside and ripping a double not trying. No one cares if he does that.

Gotta let them know who has the biggest ding dong.

And why is the equivalent of an 8 year old tossing in a big league game fair entertainment for the fan? That's the bigger question.

And nobody should care that he chose not to chase wild balls and chose instead to be a good hitter.

Imagine being a 28 year old rookie, probably cherishing every PA that you worked your whole life to get. And then some backwards people want you to go waste your opportunities and do things you trained your whole life not to do.

I'll repeat, if anybody was disrespecting the game, it was the team that had a guy on the mound throwing joke pitches.

"I'm certain that will not happen again with Yermin," La Russa said. "It's a manager's responsibility. It's a teaching moment. You want them to understand why there's a take sign in that situation. ... I'm absolutely certain the guy is not going to swing 3-0 in another situation."
So much talent that won't get realized. LOL at taking the walk as being friendly advice.

My guess is they trained for sportsmanship like that more in their younger years

It’s not like he’s actively trying to strike him out. Sometimes position players can’t lob it into the strike zone. Is it better to sit there and draw a couple walks and then hit another 3-run shot?

It’s baseball...he could fly out at the track or hit it right at someone (like the first two outs of the inning).

Should be something in the unwritten rules about not allowing some guy to throw 40mph meatballs. Here's a better idea to end the game quicker - put a pitcher out there.

La Russa saying he didn't have a problem with the Twins throwing behind Mercedes is so loltastic.

No, but I'm not running out the second string defensive lineman to play QB. Ehh I guess he's the starting catcher - ok, I'm not putting a defensive lineman in to play QB.

lmao@ comparing playing your 8 year old nephew to professional athletes. 2p2 posters make some awful analogies but this is really a bad one.

if the whitesox want to make a mockery of the game by having someone throw 45 mph lobs that's on them.

lol@ me but i just found out mercedes is 28 and played 8 years in the minors, finally gets called up, tears the cover off the ball and gets told by this fossil not to swing at a meatball 3-0. what a disgrace.

It's insane that Yermin got the heat here when a team had a guy throwing joke pitches on the mound. Baseball is as backwards as can be. By the time I'm an old man, I'm not sure if the game will have an audience. Sad.

Also, I love how Pujols is still racking up the RBI's.

Just the way he ha been for years.

1-7 with just a weak ground ball single, but 2 RBI's in 2 games. Beautiful. Hooray for being in the middle of the lineup based on things you haven't done in 5+ years.
