For the record, the Sox starter Cease threw 100 and he got replaced with Kopec who also throws 100. It seems like 100 is the new 95. That is remarkable, because guys who could throw 100 came up like once a decade. Now it seems like every team has 1 or 2 of them. Don't tell me it's "better technique" or there is something in the water. Maybe it's a mutation, like dragons learned to fly.

Yeah, it seems like 100 mph is the new 92. That said I saw some tweet (I think from either Pitching Ninja or Codify?) that the White Sox had 1500 more 100+ pitches than any other team in baseball this year.

The bullpen was absolutely filthy last night and they need more of that to get past Astros plus the bats need to stay hot.

I think speed is measured closer to release point compared to years ago, resulting in higher radar readings. That said, average velocity has steadily gone up over time, probably due to better pitching mechanics and better medicine (widespread usage of TJ surgery and successful recoveries from it).

Ironically, even though pitchers are throwing harder than ever they are throwing fewer fastballs than ever as well. Hitters have gotten really good at hitting fastballs.

On the plus side it means if we get a game 5 Lynn can ride the pine and Giolito will get the ball which is preferable for us White Sox fans. I love Lynn but just not against the Astros who seem to have him totally figured out.

Counsell is a ****ing moron. Why would you take out your pitcher who was dealing for a 20% chance at getting the run in? Vogelbach looks like he's 400 lbs and can barely swing the bat anymore.

not like they're doing themselves any favors - GIDP with bases loaded in 7th inning and getting thrown out at 3rd base with 2 outs in 8th inning
