"He's our quarterback until someone else steps up."

Anthony Lynn really showing confidence in Tyrod Taylor.

In Jacksonville, Leonard Fournette faced a loaded box on 47.8% of his snaps in 2017, 39.1.% in 2018 and 34.7% in 2019. With an aerial attack featuring Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, the Bucs saw a loaded box on just 21.5% of snaps — third-lowest in the NFL, per NFL Next Gen.

He was asked his worry about getting the virus, and he answered honestly---he's not worried because he thinks if he gets it he'll be fine and w/e % of the time he dies bc of it then so be it. He has every right to feel that way. He said he doesn't think masks are effective BUT (very important) he still wears one out of respect for others. He's wrong, and he's ignorant, but he wasn't suggesting nobody wear a mask, he was just saying he's not worried. Is that really so bad that he deserves our wrath?

To be clear, I think Kirk should not have said what he said, not because is wrong and therefore doesn't have the right to think those things, but because he should be in tune with today's society enough to understand that right or wrong his words were always going to be made into tiny snippets for headlines and manipulated one way or the other. And now you have one set of people who think he's trying to kill his teammates and another set of people who think a professional QB is telling them masks are pointless so don't wear them.

My only "defense" of him is that if you read his full statement I think it's clear that he's still taking precautions out of respect for other people who are worried more than him, and therefore, while almost certainly in the wrong, probably doesn't deserve the **** that guy reaming he's getting.

I don't understand why the quotes from here address what you're talking about at all. You acknowledge Kirk is an anti mask guy, which is what those quotes were addressing. Everything else about him not being scum I agree with, but I think by September 1st if you're someone who doesn't think masks work and goes out and tells the world you believe that you deserve to be called an idiot over and over.

they pretty much announced right after drafting Herbert that he wasn't going to start. i read this as not much more than another challenge aimed directly at Herbert to get better, this season of Hard Knocks is more of the same.

Amongst the population of all people no, but when he has the same ypc as his backup Yeldon over several seasons the term "replacement level" comes to mind.

Colts resign RKelly for 4/$50M ($34M).

Between this, Costanzo, and the boatload of money Nelson is going to get, Ballard building a wall and making Jim Irsay pay for it.

It seems odd to expect companies to continue to pay people who aren’t working. It also seems odd for him to say he’s helping the people he’s laying off by laying them off. He should have been honest and said why would we keep people on if we can lay them off then rehire them as needed.

incredible how little Tu'a news there's been. I'd always thought they'd start with Fitz..at least for the first 4 or so games but I'm guessing TU'A is a long way behind and he may not play for longer/unless there's an injury

Fact: Fournette career yards per touch is higher than Emmitt Smith

Can we chalk that up to the 2017-19 Jags being better than the 90s Cowboys? Better QB play keeping the defenses honest? Maybe Jags had a better OL?

Surely Fournette's numbers are padded from all those HOF players he was surrounded with. It's all so confusing.

Overall rushing averages have trended higher in recent years. Matching Emmitt Smith isn't any great feat unless it's longevity in the league.

You can also chalk that up to:
* RBs being much more widely used in passing game now than they were back then
* RBs getting more carries per game back then
* Emmitt playing into his mid-30s.

Other fun facts:

Emmitt missed 7 games in 13 years with Dallas. Fournette has already missed 12 games in 3 years.

Fournette's 268 rushes his rookie year is his career high. Emmitt surpassed 268 rushes 9 times (9/10 years in one stretch).

Emmitt averaged at least 4.0 ypc 9/13 years in Dallas, including a 9/10 stretch, with a low of 3.7. Fournette has averaged at least 4.0 ypc 1/3 years with a low of 3.3.

Fournette's career season is 1152 rushing yards. Emmitt surpassed that six years in a row and 9/10 years.

Emmitt caught 96% of his targets. Fournette has caught 77% of his.

I don't think Fournette sucks, but he's not Emmitt Smith either. He's pretty good at getting two yards when you need it, but hasn't really proven he can be the type of workhorse that can carry a team drive after drive, game after game, season after season. There are questions about his durability and attitude, not really his talent (when healthy).

Come on:

Brandt asked, “If 1 is the person who says, ‘Masks are stupid, you’re all a bunch of lemmings’ and 10 is, ‘I’m not leaving my master bathroom for the next 10 years,’ where do you land?”

After a chuckle, Cousins responded, “I’m not gonna call anybody stupid, for the trouble it would get me in. But I’m about a .000001.”

Then later says who cares Jesus will sort it all out.

So he's trying to be cool and woke, gets called out for it and half-heartedly walks it back on a non-scheduled media day that got moved up cause he's an idiot.
