In all seriousness, Mahomes could do much more for humanity by playing in the NFL and donating 5% of his salary instead of not playing and donating 100% of his time.

Trade:

Jets deal Jamal Adams and 4th-round pick in 2022

To

Seattle, in exchange for Bradley McDougald (safety), 1st-round pick in 2021, 3rd-round pick in 2021, and 1st-round pick in 2022, source tells ESPN.
Deal is pending physicals.

I mean, the Seahawks were just going to overdraft 4th rounders with those 1st round picks anyway, so I guess it's good.

I guess good move by JA - badmouth Gaise one day, be off the Jets the next

That is nuts by the Seahawks.

2 1s and a 3 to pay a safety the most $$ ever is seriously bad business

He’s not Ed Reed

That sure would be swell.

they’ll get a way higher pick next year by keeping him

Jets don't seem to care that connection is very apparent. Must not be worried about anybody else wanting to leave. Probably figure all the other good players are dying to work for Woody.

Seattle GM: in the last two drafts, if you add up all the talent we got from all our picks, is it better than Adams?

Seattle assistant: Well no, but...

Seattle GM: clearly we won this trade then! We could never draft somebody as good as Adams!

could also be the Washington Hogs to hearken back to their glory days of the late 80's, while simultaneously acknowledging their current fan base.

Yeah, I never really get these trades, you give up a lot of high draft picks and you still have to make that player the highest paid at his position(or at least real close to it). You get less players and less cap room.

I assume they figure they have 1 more good run with wilson so try and stack a team as best you can for the next few years. Not that I agree with that or their philosophy but their defense has been pretty bad lately and a safety is important to their cover 3.

On paper it's a terrible trade

eh, an all pro is higher EV than the expected players you get from the picks.

Still I don't think an in the box safety is worth two but if you think the Jets fleeced them, well counterpoint is it's the Jets.

My favorite part of the Barnwell article on this is the quote about anything you trade to give a guy a market contract is how much you're overpaying for him by.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...lly-worth-much

Jets got a lot for him...but damn the Jets are a miserable franchise.

It irritates me that the media has just anointed Adams as "the best safety in the NFL" because he's outspoken and has had all this drama around him.

The actual best safety in the NFL is Kevin Byard.

Giving up two #1s when you have a QB you're paying top-dollar is silly. When so much of your cap is tied up in one position, you need all the players on rookie contracts as you can get away with. You need those picks.
