My argument for LT is he's the biggest single player change from what LB's did before he played, to what all they do now since he's innovated at the position.

Wasn't he largely a glorified end?

Was he in coverage much at all?

I know he was great but I'd rather have Reggie White or Bruce Smith as two-way ends who were great against the run.

Bruce Smith and Reggie White have 200 and 198 sacks.

#3 all time is Kevin Greene at 160. LT is tied at #14 w/ Leslie O'Neil at 132.5.

Your argument dismissing Jim Brown is much more true for LT imo.

He was drafted in '81, they start recording them in '82.

His second year he got 7.5 sacks (played 9 games), he got 9.0 his third (16).

other multiple winners are A Donald, M Singletary, R White, Joe Green, Bruce Smith, Mike Singletary

(award only a thing since 1971)

LT also the only Defensive player to win MVP (I think?)

EDIT: Alan Page a DT won it in 71 and Joe Schmidt an LB shared it in 60.
Also a placekicker, Mark Moseley won it in 82 when playing for the Skins...was that the strike year?

they know the players will inevitably break as most nfl players don't last long in the league and can't afford to hold out. for comparison sake, Dak Prescott has made 2.7 million as a franchise quarterback (yes, that's total pre tax) and he is already above average in time spent in the league.

The push for another team would've made a little sense during the period where 10-6 missing the playoffs happened a lot, but that hasn't happened in a while (the Jets? in 15? last one of those I think).

He’s made $29m to date in his career, including 6.4m last year and he’s only 27.

He had an ok year last year and would definitely be in line for a few million minimum in 2010 and potentially a multi year deal but he does this a few weeks before FA
