Re: 2020 NFL off season

I think if Twitter had existed in the early 90's then Favre's career could easily have gone the way of Johnny Manziel

Re: 2020 NFL off season

Jets season is one episode, Vikings is two, college and Atlanta is one. GB is 3-4 easy with the painkillers, the title, and then losing to Denver as a big fave along with the Rams and Giants losses, and then all the drama at the end. Talk about the (non)apprenticeship of Rodgers. The MNF game after his dad's death.

Can't think of another NFL story with that many plot-lines. You can fill 10 minutes w/ Something About Mary content.

eta: forgot about Jenn Sterger and the grey dong

seems like a terrible idea bc bardy is boring af and i can't imagine him or hoodie being honest about anything at this point, but if it happens i guess they're banking on it doing ratings simply bc "FOOTBAW!!!"
yeah I'm a Pats fan and I don't even want it. Give it to me in a decade when they and the rest of the Boston sports teams have been trash for years and I'm pining for the old days.

How do they discern betwixt dropped passes and poorly-thrown passes?

would assume there's some kind of criteria to it and then someone (hopefully impartial) reviews the film and makes a call, but yeah this is kind of the issue i have any time i'm watching a game and they're showing a "drop" montage and most of the throws are lasers like 2 feet high & wide (or behind)

like sure technically they could be caught but

and why i'm generally skeptical of some qbs being defended as uniquely hurt by drops
obv sometimes it's true, but it seems to get said about a lot of guys (which turns out to be biased analysis)

Re: 2020 NFL off season

Yeah just sitting here thinking about it.....

If I was asked to come up w the criteria I would say create a zone like a strike zone in baseball and anything that hits that spot which isnít caught is a drop (provided it isnít deflected by a defender etc.) and anything outside is poorly-thrown/off-target and not counted as drop.

The problem is the zone isnít something easy to define like in baseball but once you had a generally uniform application it would seem to be something worth quantifying.

It could also create a Ďpasses savedí catagory for receivers who managed to pull in the highest percentage of off-target throws.

Definitely started out similar. While the falcons favre trade was hilariously lopsided I mean, Favre's party life in Atlanta... Good lord. He had no chance there. Also I'd guess flying is way more accessible now (I don't fly much obviously); which meant JFF wasn't stuck in cleveland often enough like Brett would've been in GB at that time. (JFF probably still busts, he ran out of clean pockets way too much but he really never gave himself a chance)

Re: 2020 NFL off season

Not having Ladainian Tomlinson or Leroy Kelly makes that list invalid.

And Jim Brown, Marshall Faulk And ED not in the top 10, but Tiki, Gore and Alstott. ok

A truly respectable click bait job would make you look at 25 pages to see the list.

Was the list the last page? I never clicked.

Pretty sure a statistician, who likely never played the game, watches the games and says, "Nope. He couldn't catch that one" vs "He should've had that."

Since these guys never played, they're less critical of the real athletes. They tend to err on the side of lenient.

You know a drop when you see it because you know football. They probably don't.
