I'm getting the feeling that a standing start was chosen over a rolling start to assist Checo's position as the Mercedes and its h/p would probably have Checo vulnerable either at turn 1 or turn 3 on the first restart lap.

After Stroll crashed out, they showed how many laps every driver had done on their tyres and I was worried that many would have approached almost 40 laps by the end of the race.

Lewis is the personification of way too many years of utterly boring Mercedes dominance. Good for them to do a better job than everybody else. Well deserved. But bad for the sports.
Every fan wants to see a battle for the championship and see new faces, so many will root for the underdog

Lewis has made two capital blunders this year and should have been 30 points down, but he isn't because of a red flag and Max' puncture. That has got nothing to do with skill, but with luck on your side or bad luck on the side of the opponent.

Lewis is an exceptional driver and he is where he is, due to skill. We can all see what a mediocre driver Bottas is, now that many other teams have shortened the gap with Mercedes. He can't overtake the chicken that crosses the road.

Well....he was in a damn good car too, so no.

But had the team not held him a few extra seconds at his pit stop he may have jumped Max and taken the lead. Also Perez started 7th and made up a bunch of places in the first stint.

Bottas is terrible and needs to go ASAP.

I hope Mercedes come 3rd or 4th in the Constructors. They deserve to be punished for keeping Bottas on and at least not win the Constructors championship again.

I am very sceptical of Sergio Perez, but this weekend his race was very good.

He is still nowhere near Max, but he also doesn't implode like Gasly and Albon

Yah, that stop really screwed him. I think he was in there 4.3 secs. or so compared to Max's 1.9. He might've come out ahead of Max, and it also put him close enough to Lewis to give him DRS and have a couple chances to pass Checo. If he comes out 3 secs. clear of Lewis like he should've then I don't think Lewis would've been able to close the gap back up enough to get DRS. All moot anyhow as the race for perfectly for Checo, at the expense of the other 2. Of course you have to put yourself in position to capitalize, and Checo did that over the first stint.
