we don't go to wolves/leiceister/everton with "ok we will dominate but may concede due to our bad CBs"
we go there with "ok we gonna get outplayed"

I could get behind this idea, but I’m afraid poor Kos (who is already playing through pain every game) is going to crumble into a pile of dust and bones if he doesn’t retire soon. Not sure I’d rely on Nacho as anything more than an occasional backup at this point.

Also, can’t think of anyone like Ramsey on the market that we might be able to afford. He really was so special. Rabiot is available on a free, right?

If we could get a monster like Ibrahim Sangare from Toulouse and someone like Kai Havertz, then we’d be in business.

Isn't Ryan Fraser the ideal Ramsey replacement?

fraser is a fairly straightforward wide-midfielder
i like him but i think we should go higher risk/reward as we need to bink a worldclass attacker somehow

havertz, 19 year old with 17 bundesliga goals, is out of our range already i reckon

Trying to “bink” a world class attacker is such a bad take. Chelsea and Utd are absolute dumpster fires right now. Arsenal has a great opportunity to re-establish themselves in the top 4 if they bring in the right pieces and build over the next few years. Trying to “bink” world class players and skip the building steps is what keeps teams where they are.

Yes, but with £40m budget and 3-4 spots to fill, you'll need some luck unless you have a bunch of phd statisticians (or atleast masters of psychology) and everyone is on the same page.

If we could sell off Mkhi and Özil, different story i guess.

That's the number floating around. With CL it increases "significantly". We poor.

Getting linked with Exequiel Palacios. This would be interesting.

I sincerely hope buying a ramsey replacement is our top priority in the transfer market

other positions are at least somewhat manageable

Thorgan hazard to bvb. Must be nice for teams to get out there early and be decisive

Can never tell if 8bus is trolling when he complains about other teams doing good business while city sit on the best and most expensive squad in world football.

8bus is either a 100% serious all the time or the best balanced troll account that I have ever seen in my life.

we don't have the cash and are too far away as all the teams above us have at least 1 worldclass player

rebuilding with safe bets like fraser(and no world-class prospects) we are certain to cement a place between 6th and 9th with leicester/wolves/everton

Say what you want about Liverpool fans but they would have had the Glazers/Kroenkes out of the club already if saddled with them. #passion

You were 1 point off from 4th place this year. Fill one or 2 of those spots using the budget and any money from selling players and look to consolidate top 4 next year. If the club doesn't have City/Utd money then you have to build slowly and not try and take shortcuts.

Chelsea, if they fire Sarri and appoint Lampard are going to be ****ing awful, and if they keep Sarri they are still going to struggle after losing Hazard and not being able to sign anyone this year. United is going to be a laughing stock again. You have another year where you're going to compete for top 4 and probably be favorites to get it. Have some patience.

nonsense. You were 1 point off top 4 this year. You're all of a sudden going to drop to 6-9th place because you are losing Aaron ****ing Ramsey?

Most models had arse(and basically all of the top 6) overachieving this year. Not impossible they slip out of top 6.

Yep, understat has them 7th on xPTS, below Wolves. The xPTS difference between 4th and 9th is ~6 pts.

I think Infogol had Arse even worse off, 8th or 9th iirc.

They also scored the 3rd most goals (73) in the league this year. They have 2 players in Auba and Lacazette who can score on the slimmest of chances. The ability to score goals goes a long ways to covering up other deficiencies in your game. If they can tighten up their defense a little they are going to have a great chance of getting top 4, that's even without bringing in any other players.

our strategy away from home was

-get outplayed
-hope to bink something with auba/laca
