Doesnt the models have pool overachieving as well? As in, they were not even in a race for first.

The eyetest would agree with it though. There's not much separating wolves/watford/leicester from Arsenal.

40m is obviously insulting, and surprising, but it is also the absolute worst case scenario. We have ~45% chance to reach CL and im sure we will sell atleast someone. (Mustafi!)

I think theres lots of room for smart signings in the 20-30m range (underrated gems, players with lower buyout than actual value etc). We wont be signing anyone in the ~70m range though which is what you'd expect a ~worldclass player to cost.

Out: Mustafi(15m), Mkhi(15m), Elneny(10m)
In: Ziyech(25m), Palacios(25m), Saliba(20m), Martinelli(10m)
- Would be a pretty damn good window. Any CL money could be put into some offensive midfield type like Julian Brandt (if he is remotely realistic.) I really want there to be room for Nelson, Willock and even Saka to get plenty of chances.

We got 97 points so obv.

We played well and ran well bit ran into a better team doing the same. Anyone beating city over the next 2 to 3 years are going to need some unreal run good. If they continue to buy well we are all ****ed longterm and it really is about getting top 4 and keeping the finances up until they falter/sheik gets bored.

Short answer is yes.

We completely lack a midfielder that can bring a bit of tempo-control. Look at our games after Rambo got injured. Really bleak with Laca-Auba trying to shine. Torreira started off well but seems to be afraid to pass a ball forward.

b2b midfielder >>> CB >> winger > whatever else

I think Brandt has a 25m release clause. Their DoF (I think) said he'd be sold this summer with Dortmund supposedly interested.

Edit: Seems he's all but confirmed for Dortmund.

What would be the ideal Ramsey replacement?

I hear Fornals is this guy!

Did he have a worse season this year, or is he already shipped to Napoli as was suggested during the January window? Yeah, it ****ing sucks that other clubs of similar strength as us is clearly outclassing us on the market. Napoli and Dortmund stealing a lot of potential cheap players from us.

because Dortmund is a much more attractive landing spot right now for a young, talented player. Especially when the player in question is German

Lot of City's best players are quite old. Predicting they will dominate like Juve or whoever is slightly premature. Next season, yeah for sure, after that? Who knows. Are they going to keep being the number 1 spending team? If Guardiola goes could they end up recruiting about as well as United post Fergie over a period of 3 or 4 years and end up out of CL spots despite the highest net spend? Anything is possible.

We are in a similar position to Arsenal (except with probably £150m not £40m to piss away), like Cashy I don't really want us to spend on average players (average for a top team, not in the whole league) like Zaha to cement our place as also rans. Because if you buy midtable players when you are trying to improve to top 4 and beyond what do you think will happen? We need to be going for a good mix of youth with high ceiling and potential Salah's/Eriksens/Vertonghen's etc from Europe/South America. Like Dortmund are clearly doing. The next Salah, Mane and Aubamayang are out there right now somewhere for less than £30m. Good scouting, and a massive dose of positive variance are key. We also need to look at our own youth players. Give the likes of Greenwood the chance to develop ahead of older donkeys.

mun have the cash and ffp space to adopt the spray and pray approach popularised by city and chelsea

eg: DM is problem? ok then buy fernando fernandinho javi garcia and rodwell for like 90m combined over two summers, bin the ****e ones and put the one that turns out to be good in the team for the next 10 years

its the only way to guarantee success

whether the glazers are up for that is another matter

Besides Fernandinho (Rodri has been mentioned as a replacement), and Alien Head (already moved on) who’s really old in the City squad? Seems like they should have no problems whatsoever adding a few pieces every year around the amazing spine and depth they have now.

They won the league with their best player making 19 appearances. It’s not like their breaking any world records. They just have the luxury that if someone that Xkiti and the gang pick out is ****, they can just pull another one out of the hat and buy them.

Also, I had no idea Mangala was still in the squad.

Yeah, can’t think of any reason why a young player would choose us over them, besides the fact that we could probably offer higher wages, but that’s just the Prem and doesn’t make us special at all. I suppose the few big names like Laca and Auba might be attractive. Lots of young Germans like Havertz grew up idolizing Ozil, but that doesn’t mean anything either if we don’t have the money to spend.

they have the best midfielder in the world and they won the league with 98 pts despite him being injured all season.

they need to replace fernandinho and aguero long term but like baids implied they will just purchase until they find one who turns out to be good enough

Yeah, I guess Silva too but it doesn’t seem like they rely on him much at all.

Fraser for 30m seems about right to me. Wouldn't be mad if I was an arse fan.

I think the point is that he's a downgrade on a player who has been given away for nothing, and would end up costing 30m.

Probably the best they can hope for though.

If that number is like, 15-20 it's not the worst. As said, you have to replace Ramsey and while he's maybe not ideal it's unlikely he completely bombs.

Was curious who would be the odd attacking option out at City. Bild reporting Sane close to joining Bayern.

Been reported for a while that he'd likely be sold, with Bayern the obv destination. City will probably just go out and replace him with that Felix kid.
