Chiefs have to win it all this year, otherwise, they’re screwed. guys...they will likely have ~$25 million in cap space next year at only 35 players on the team. They'll need 18 players at an average of only $1 million each. That is... not good. Most likely they cut Watkins. And that’s without paying Tyreek Hill.

They still got a QB who’s really ****ing good. They’ll be fine. Finding a qb who is a franchise level player helps all other aspects of the team and allows you to build elsewhere especially through the draft. Obviously at some point said qb gets paid too much or gets hurt you have a problem but I think the chiefs will be fine short and long term.

A lot of their highest paid players are expendable.

Watkins sucks
Berry is gone
Fisher is good
Kelce is all world
Hitchens—not sure how good he is

Yea Dominic, without looking at the numbers in the NFL it's fairly easy to maneuver around the cap

This is what's on the books next year, excluding Clark cuz I guess the details aren't fully out yet, & 13 randoms who make less than Speaks:

PlayerPositionDead CapCap HitCap %
Sammy WatkinsWR($7,000,000)$21,000,000 11.16
Tyrann MathieuFS($21,016,668)$16,333,333 8.68
Eric FisherLT($2,550,000)$12,050,000 6.4
Anthony HitchensILB($8,400,000)$11,300,000 6
Travis KelceTE($1,968,400)$10,468,400 5.56
Laurent Duvernay-TardifG($4,000,000)$9,000,000 4.78
Mitchell SchwartzRT($1,400,000)$8,000,000 4.25
Alex OkaforDE($4,000,000)$7,050,000 3.75
Patrick MahomesQB($5,226,413)$5,226,413 2.78
Daniel SorensenSS($1,000,000)$4,750,000 2.52
Cameron ErvingG-$4,681,668 2.49
Damien WilsonOLB($875,000)$3,875,000 2.06
Damien WilliamsRB($533,334)$2,833,334 1.51
Austin ReiterC($333,334)$2,758,334 1.47
Dustin ColquittP($650,000)$2,650,000 1.41
Breeland SpeaksDE($1,258,368)$1,663,776 0.88

There are definitely going to be a lot of holes to fill, with not that much money to fill them. They could cut SWat to save $14m, but that creates another hole, & would mean that they would have paid SWat 2/$34m.

Right now they have $54m for next year, minus Clark (& like $4m-$5m for this year's draft picks).

It will be interesting to see how they manage it. It's doable, but I think they're going to end up being spread thinner than necessary. To Vincent's point, it's easy to maneuver around the cap, in the short term, but in the long term it can really catch up to teams.

I know they can maneuver...but in two years, they're going to be extending Mahomes, and if he plays at 75% of what he did last year, he'll be in line for the richest contract ever.

Just saying, I think they overpaid for Clark, both in trade value and for what they have to pay him.

Browns acquiring Odell on a $0 guaranteed contract with a 16M discount (NYG paying his signing bonus) is far and away the best veteran contract for 1st round pick type of trade in recent years.

Knowing how this normally goes, Hill is free but will 99.9% either do it or get accused of something similar again. I’ve seen it with all the former niners who get off free and then do it/get accused again. Especially when it’s around the same women, who go from throwing the guy under the bus to saying it was made up, again and again.

It’s ****ed up...I hope Tyreek the best though.

Her twitter is nothing but Jesus and how much she loves her kid - almost no drama. I guess it's possible she did it, but seems really really unlikely.

However the the second set of charges sounds like it came from a call from her parents when they thought the kid had been left home alone. Turns out his parents were babysitting - which supposedly her family was still irate about. I wonder if his parents are possibly suspects.

I think the kid is in foster care right now. She's got twins on the way though. Wonderful situation.

Daniel Jones reminds me of all the other guys drafted high that turned into journeyman backups in the league and the NFL can't figure out they should probably not keep drafting that same mold in round 1.

Is there a draft thread open yet?

I opened this one, can somebody please open/link a draft one?

Take it with a grain of salt given the common draft smokeshow but reports are that Snyder has taken over the top of the draft and is planning to try and trade up for Jones.

I do hope this happens cause loljones and lolsnyder

I've heard Haskins from a number of sources

I guess we'll see lol

I read a QB analytics comp today that had Blake Bortles for Jones, sounds about right

(the other top guys: Murray = Deshaun Watson; Haskins = Philip Rivers; Lock = Joe Flacco; Grier = Nick Foles)

and sure I guess I can make a draft thread in a little bit, unless someone is already at work and/or feeling it

My guess is Skins to 3 to get Haskins

Skins are dumb so it wouldn't surprise me. From what I've heard AZ would jump at taking a 2nd for Rosen who's better than any QB in this year's draft not named Kyler Murray but lets trade "EVERYTHING" for a mediocre QB.

It's like 100% going to happen to. It sounds so like the Skins.
