There have been some studies on this. Obviously not all boxers are created equal, since a featherweight and a heavyweight are going to deliver hits to the head with entirely different levels of concussive force. Also, the frequency of damage is different. (Most) Boxers don't tend to fight often and usually keep sparing to as little as possible to reduce wear and injury.
All that said, boxers do see a huge number of brain injuries later in life, and the study Suzzer was quoting didn't say everyone would die young as a result, just that the subjects they examined happened to have died young as a result of a brain injury.
