1 year/$1m & he'll be an RFA after the season.

This is a much flatter distribution than I'd expect between 2nd and 5th.

Also, Dorsey was the Chiefs GM when they drafted Hunt (and Tyreek Hill for that matter); he's signing a player he likes + he has a solid record of just not giving a **** about off-field problems

If true, wouldn't boxers die really young all the time?

When they showed that on the AAF broadcast I had to rewind it to make sure I wasn't high.

Also Chubb is not better than Kareem Hunt, that's a crazy damn take.

There have been some studies on this. Obviously not all boxers are created equal, since a featherweight and a heavyweight are going to deliver hits to the head with entirely different levels of concussive force. Also, the frequency of damage is different. (Most) Boxers don't tend to fight often and usually keep sparing to as little as possible to reduce wear and injury.

All that said, boxers do see a huge number of brain injuries later in life, and the study Suzzer was quoting didn't say everyone would die young as a result, just that the subjects they examined happened to have died young as a result of a brain injury.

The pool of undrafted players is much larger than the pool of players selected in a given round

Ok now I get it better but still figure the amount of times boxers get hit in the head with good force in a 12 round fight would outweigh a football season but I guess it depends on the position and player.

Either way, none of this stuff bodes well for football. People are getting smarter (hopefully) and are going to be less likely to throw their kids into football because of their fear, a very reasonable fear. Pretty sure I wouldn't want my kids to play, and I love football.

Boggles my mind whenever a two-sport college star opts for NFL and CTE over MLB

Me too. Not to mention MLB has garunteed contracts that are generally worth A LOT more than NFL. even if he's average and gets a couple contracts in baseball he'll make 200 million. Huge dog to make that in NFL even with the cap rising

Like first round qbs are going to get a quick shot to make it and if they don’t, they could be a backup for a long time. MLB is a long process of which many first rounders don’t even make the big leagues. Obviously with the a’s willing to give him that kind of money he should make it but if football fails, could he fall back on baseball or would be be too far behind? Obviously huge dangers lie in football with concussions and other injuries. I’d assume the odds of him hitting it big in football at qb should be higher than baseball but if he was the next big thing in baseball, he could easily make arod money.

I mean I actually get wanting to be a starting QB in the NFL over anything else in team sports and it probably being a dream since childhood so it's hard to pass up, and 20 yr olds aren't too worried about their long term health. I'm never taking an NFL job if it were handed to me even though my pro athlete options are a bit limited right now, but I definitely wouldn't have turned it down at his age, so who knows what I'd do at his age these days.

Incredibly misleading promo to try and hype up the AAF.

So many players on IR that obviously get filled by undrafteds for a week or two before they revert to camp bodies.

And as nath mentioned the number of undrafteds signed immediately after the draft are way more than any specific round.

Classic "try and hype an inferior product with strawman arguments" work from CBS.

That said I didn't mind the games I saw parts of.

Also economics. Why give a 2nd contract to a 3rd rounder when you can sign an untreated for a ton less?

Also nfl contracts are a complete joke. These guys make peanuts.

if kyler murray plays mlb he wont make real money for like 8 years, and thats if hes even able to make it to the bigs.

$200 mil for an average mlb player wtf? mike moustakas is an average player, hes made just $25M and is now 30 years old, still unsigned and likely playing out on one year contracts for about 5M until teams can replace him with a young guy at minimum

He meant an average pitcher. 200 million is still an obvious stretch tho.

Who are some NFL non-QB's that chose that over baseball? Jeff Samardzija is the only counter I can think of off-hand (WR [was a projected top 10 pick] and he's set to make 127M through 2020).
