So your question is, who is the best QB who came into the league in 2010 or later who hasn't made a Pro Bowl?

Crazy that there are 11 Pro Bowl QBs this year & Matt Ryan is none of them.

He means even listed/invited

The NFC pro bowl QBs

Brees (away)
Goff (away)
Rodgers (injured)
Wilson
Trubisky
Prescott

As mentioned Ryan was 35 TDs, 7 picks this year nearly 5k yards at 8ypa

But no, lets bring in Trubes who was 24 and 12

Yeah, although I think the most likely scenario is that they name the 3 originals thinking they're the best 3, then go down the list inviting people, & if they say "no" they just move down the list without that alternate ever becoming a Pro Bowler.

Probably this.

I guess it's still a moneymaker for the league. Otherwise they'd dump it.

It's only been since 2010? Weird seems longer.

I didn’t validate this list but here are some names who’ve never been

Flacco-11 seasons starting
Fitzmagic-9
Tannehill-6
Bradford-5
Mariota-4

Flacco did decline an invite though a few years ago cause his wife was pregnant. He did have some good/great seasons.

Wonder what QB has the most games started without making a Pro Bowl? Season as starter perhaps?

My guess is Steve Deberg.

EDIT: Answer is Joe Ferguson, starting QB for the Bills from 1973-1984, backup for IND, TAM and DET from 1985-1990. Steve DeBerg was 5th. Flacbert is 2nd and will surpass Ferguson if he starts more than 8 games in 2019 and doesn't make a Pro Bowl.

i LOVED Joe Ferguson when I was a teen. He was a god to me.

Has anyone else done the Fan-Speak Ultimate GM thing? It's pretty damn fun. You play GM for your favorite team, and sign, cut restructure players, go through FA, offer contracts, the draft, etc...the Ultimate costs $20, but it was easily worth it (I have no connection to this site, just letting you know)

Jason Garrett is such a bad coach he could only score 7 points with an all-star team in a glorified flag football game

I fully expect that to happen. I wouldn't be surprised to see Eli starting training camp with no competition for his spot.
Not really sure what the right play with Eli is here. He's obv not good, but the other options don't seem to be particularly fun either. Will obv draft a QB but don't seem to be any ready-made ones. Do you trade for someone like Carr? Is his replacement level above Eli worth what you'd have to trade to get him?

The options are:

1. Bring Eli Manning back for the last year of his contact and have him start
2. Renegotiate Eli's contract to make it more team-friendly and bring in some competition
3. Cut Eli and draft/sign/trade for a new QB

The only way you can justify #1 is if you think Eli can still make the Giants a playoff team. I think the answer to that question is 'No'. The Giants should be in straight rebuilding mode. They have great young skill players and they need a young QB to go with them.

There's no way #2 is going to happen. It would be ideal, but it won't happen. Eli can still get a pricey, short-term contract if he's cut. So why renegotiate?

The best move in the long run is #3. I felt exactly the same way during the 2018 offseason. Unfortunately, coaches don't think long-term. They think about what keeps them employed. For them, it's too risky to cut Eli and draft a QB especially if you think that one doesn't have NFL starter potential. But signing a free agent QB like Teddy or BDN would be an interesting choice.

Yeah, I think I agree with most of this, and definitely agree that incentives are such that trying to secure a degree of success next season is greatly rewarded.

The problem is compounded by being unable to protect someone who wasn't even mobile in his twenties.

I think Eli does enough still well that he's got some value in keeping around, if the options for 3) don't materialise/. On the assumption the BDN is not really on the table, none of the other options really fill me with much optimism.

Option 1) presumably includes drafting a QB that could be in place to start the 2020 season, no? I certainly don't love it but it's not the end of the world.

Anyone bringing in BDN is committing to him I would think, based on the salary he'll command, and he will want to go somewhere that's (probably) only missing the QB piece of the puzzle to be a contender. That's obviously not where NYG is at the moment.

I mean, all else being equal, sure. But far more likely is that a team that is a dumpster fire (like NYG or the Jags) will offer him 10/20% more than a team that is nearly there.
