2019 NBA Draft 2019 NBA Draft

Might as well jump start this early with the 2018 draft over and Summer League winding down

The early contenders for #1 Overall

RJ Barrett

Extremely skilled but so-so athlete. His year spent at Duke will show whether he's cerebral enough to be worth #1 or just Shabazz Mohammed 2.0
Spoiler:

ZION

Absolutely stupid athleticism and strength. If he's a defensive terror, he could be drafted #1 overall on potential alone.
Spoiler:

Bol Bol

7'2 guy who is long and supposedly can shoot. Manutes son. If he can move fluidly without laboring, he has a shot at #1.

Spoiler:

Cam Reddish

Smooth, long, skilled athlete. Seems like he would have to really suck at basketball at Duke to fall out of the top 5
Spoiler:

And last but not least, my favorite to end up #1:

Kevin Porter JR

All aboard the RJ Barrett hype train, dude single handedly beat the USA last year in the u18 world championships en route to a gold medal.

If Zion is 6'6 272lbs like they claim then i feel like he will die before turning 30 from all the steroids they feeding that boy with.

Zion is big and "fat" for his age. I guess you can hope he's the next Barkley but the guy needs to tone up.

Where's Nassir? He's destroyed some of the all-star games.

Zion doesn't look that fat to be 272lbs, he's not shredded but he's more like 15-16% bodyfat. If he gets to 250lbs he would be ripped & if the weight they have him at online is correct then these highschoolers need to layoff the steroids. I would love to see the NBA implement a USADA UFC type of program just so i can laugh at how deflated half the league would get.

he's huge for a senior in HS. if he's going to play the 4/5, he's short and overweight for his position especially in college. he's actually shorter and heavier than DeJuan Blair. I know he's most explosive but we will see, I have my worries about his going forward.

No clue why I forgot Nassir Little, just an oversight on my part. He's definitely in contention for #1 though. Rivals has him #2 overall.

Zion looks like the next Stanley Johnson. Outside of Barret this class looks weak currently.

Barrett looks like the real deal. He might not have the athleticism to GOAT it up, but at worst he is a long term starter, and at best a perennial all-star. Though I can seen a scenario where Bol Bol develops into the #1 pick.

zion really looks like an absurd athlete, dunno if college is going to make him look good though since he seems like more of a transition beast than anything else - you rarely see much craft in his highlights. still, people seem to think he has the foundations of a reasonable shot and is a good guy etc

trying to find comps for his body type in recent memory, looks this article says zion has a 6'10 wingspan and 8'7 standing reach, and most places seem to list his height/weight around 6'6/270 so we'll go with that;

PlayerHeightWeightWingspanReach
Zion Williamson6'6"2706'10"8'7"
Semi Ojeleye6'5.25''2416'9.5"8'6''
Stanley Johnson6'5''2426'11.5''8'6''
Justin Anderson6'5.25''2316'11.75''8'5"
TJ Warren6' 7''2206' 10.25''8' 8''
Aaron Gordon6' 7.5''2206' 11.75''8' 9''
Julius Randle6' 7.75''2507' 0''8' 9.5''

zion looks a lot more athletic than all these guys despite being significantly heavier (even compared to a guy like randle who's main advantage in the nba is strength). fair to say his blend of athleticism and strength is probably unprecedented

he might have a bunch of warts but if he continues to dominate in college and looks to be in that megaelite lebron-ish tier of athlete then he will have paths to make it work as a superstar - very intrigued by his upside

Seemingly every year, there's at least one old college upperclassmen who comes out of nowhere and crushes college then gets drafted in the lottery.

Mikal Bridges, Buddy Hield, Frank Kaminsky, Steph Curry, Victor Oladipo, etc

This year, I think that player could potentially be Admiral Schofield from Tennessee

Spoiler:

6'5 240. Looks like a defensive end. Explosive athlete.

-Career 37% shooter from 3 on 300 attempts
-79% FT shooter on 200 attempts
-Excellent defender who can defend multiple positions
-Great rebounder

Basically, his handle is somewhat limited which has hindered his creation and lead to low assist totals. But, there's hope that could come around

My concern with Bol Bol is can his body hold up at the NBA level?

There's no doubt he has some skill for someone his size but there's something about his knees when he's playing that makes me think he'll be fragile in the NBA. He's going to get man handled in the paint unless he puts on 50lbs of muscle.

Jalen Smith and Bruno Fernando is going to be a hell of a front court. Not that I have confidence in Turgeon on coaching them up but they should both be first rounders IMO.

I swear, i hate how in basketball people exaggerate their stats. There's a 0% chance that guy in the video posted is 6'5 250lbs and no way Zion is 6'6 272lbs. If these stats were real then these guys at age 17-18 are the biggest, strongest wings in the history of the nba & by the time they're 25 will be 300lbs & basically a 6'6 Shaq on the wing hahha, these guys need to stop it with these inflated numbers.

being 300 pounds, especially at 18, is normally not a great thing for a 6-6 wing.
