Guess I confused the games, they drew with Algeria and beat Slovenia 1-0. Shearer talking about how the players mustve picked up massive confidence from that. England are just not a team of winners. Spain, Italy, Germany, France etc. all win trophies and have a proper winning mentality. Yeah they **** up sometimes but you still know they will be back in contention in future tournaments, and they will never go 52 years without winning a trophy. They are winners.

England on the other hand you just know are going to lose. You know at the next tournament they will not win either. And the one after that they will not win either. And every tournament in the future England will not win either.

I think it's fair to say that the European teams that have won multiple major tournaments are in the top tier i.e. Italy, Germany, France and Spain.
