The Romans successfully invaded England in about the year 50 BC.
England didn't exist in 50 BC, or for several centuries after that. It was established by Saxon invaders in the Dark Ages, and the Saxons took several centuries to displace the British, whom they called the Welsh ('weala', i.e. 'foreigners') into what is now called Wales. Julius Caesar's invasion, in 55 BC and not 50 BC, was more of a raid, after which the Romans withdrew. The successful Roman invasion occurred under Claudius (or Sir Derek Jacobi, as those of us who were around in the Seventies know him) in 43 AD.

The settlement of Londinium was established around a hundred years later.
~2000 years later a child was born in a far suburb of Londinium, a place called Walthamstow. And that child's name was Harry Kane.
His immense talent was immediately obvious to all
But he didn't actually do anything in the last match, and England still won, which indicates that the manager has created a team that genuinely works as a team, something England have not had in many decades, and they don't rely on this or that superstar, just as they didn't under Sir Alf Ramsey in 1966.

Yes he did, he just didn't score. He was dropping deep and creating space for others, winning fouls etc. Just because he wasn't doing his usual stuff up top doesn't mean he did nothing.
I'm also sick of the Henderson and Sterling criticism. Henderson has been ****ing brilliant.
The only England players I think who have been subpar really are Alli and to a lesser extent Walker honestly.

I feel slightly bad for the mainly-jokers. They’re still a very welcome part of the wagon but they won’t quite get the same level of satisfaction as us true it’s coming home believers when it comes home.
It’s coming home is the story of the World Cup. The England-France sub-story would be LOL FRANCE but it’s irrelevant as Belgium will win the #realfinal and advance to the 1st place playoff for the coming home of it’s.
pure poetry lol

England has only barely beaten Tunisia. This "it's coming home" thing is ridiculous.

England had the easiest path to the final ever and then got lucky to win it. They've only won it twice in 52 years. They won't even qualify for Euro 2020.

Two World Cups and a Euros title doesn't make England the world's best team, they just got lucky. Sir Gareth Southgate has no chance in Qatar.
Winning back-to-back World Cups means nothing it's still LOL INGURLAND.
Don't worry mate, just bask in the tears of all these minnöw nation fans while us brave English and the brave, smart outsiders on the wagon enjoy the glory of it coming home. Great post though.
