I'll do my official useless QB rankings sometime soon.

I had seen much more mainstream buzz about Mayfield to Bills & the other stuff I heard seemed to be people piecing things together.

yeah, I follow Allbright...saw that. Most national media seems to be saying Allen - from what I've seen - but more Buffalo-insider types are saying smokescreen. But who really knows?

I mean, if they do pick Rose...guess I gotta hope he improves.

I usually don't believe any report in terms of the draft on any team at this time of the year. There's zero incentive to do anything but spread lies.

That year San Diego was linked to everyone but the guy they picked despite it literally not mattering was just like are you f'ing serious? Only means anything to set something up later but that situation rarely happens for a team.

Yeah, that was Joey Bosa. I don't think it was the only time they did that, either. I don't think they smokescreened Mike Williams as aggressively but I don't think he was really linked to them either.

Not every team does that, though. Remember in 2016 the Giants' interest in Jack Conklin and Leonard Floyd leaked, so the Titans and Bears traded up ahead of them and forced the panic pick of Eli Apple.

Why you want to want to draft a QB in the top part of the draft:

Kind of crazy the colts are gonna still get Chubb at 6.

Is there a consensus on where Lamar Jackson is likely to go off the board?

I hardly ever seem him discussed with the big 4 of Allen, Mayfield, Rosen, Darnold. Did he do terrible at the combine?

No, there's just a lot of bias against the type of QB he is.

I would probably make him my first QB off the board, but it increasingly looks like he'll actually be the fifth one. That said, with how teams are pushing up for the other QBs, he could rise as a result as well.

I'm assuming the top 4 QBs will be gone by 15 so its either LJ for the Cards or drop back somehow. I'm starting to think Cards just need to say **** it and draft him. Let him sit for a year.

I'm having real issues with Allen going in the top 15. Since Wyoming is by North Dakota, someone has to take a chance I suppose.

With Gettleman in charge, I think Barkley is still in play for the Giants.

Every single arizona quarterback over the last whatever seasons including the ones they just signed is pretty much the same type of guy; definitely would be surprised if they picked lamar.

There is a rumor the browns are the team biggest on lamar but who knows with rumors these days.

Yeah which is why I want Cards to take him -- at least if Cards are going to suck I want them to be fun to watch. Supposedly they sent a huge contingent of staff to Sam D's pro day...don't see how he drops tho

I tried doing a mock draft, mostly predictive although my rankings have some impact, if it's all wrong it's because I haven't had the time to do nearly as much work this year

1 CLE Sam Darnold QB USC
2 NYG Josh Rosen QB UCLA
3 NYJ (via IND) Baker Mayfield QB Oklahoma
4 CLE (via HOU) Bradley Chubb EDGE North Carolina State
5 DEN Josh Allen QB Wyoming
6 IND (via (NYJ) Saquon Barkley RB Penn State
7 TB Minkah Fitzpatrick CB/S Alabama
8 CHI Quenton Nelson G Notre Dame
9 SF Denzel Ward CB Ohio State
10 OAK Roquan Smith LB Georgia
11 MIA Connor Williams OT Texas
12 BUF Lamar Jackson QB Louisville
13 WAS Derwin James S Florida State
14 GB Jaire Alexander CB Louisville
15 ARI Courtland Sutton WR SMU
16 BAL Tremaine Edmunds LB Virginia Tech
17 LAC Maurice Hurst DL Michigan
18 SEA Isaiah Wynn OL Georgia
19 DAL Harold Landry EDGE Boston College
20 DET Derrius Guice RB LSU
21 CIN Kolton Miller OT UCLA
22 BUF Sony Michel RB Georgia
23 LAR Josh Jackson CB Iowa
24 CAR D.J. Moore WR Maryland
25 TEN Vita Vea DL Washington
26 ATL Ronnie Harrison S Alabama
27 NO James Washington WR Oklahoma State
28 PIT Mark Andrews TE Oklahoma
29 JAX Leighton Vander Esch LB Boise State
30 MIN Christian Kirk WR Texas A&M
31 NE Mike McGlinchey OT Notre Dame
32 PHI Rashaan Evans LB Alabama

McGlinchey to the Vikes I'd think

yeah i don't actually know who their starting tackles are, come to think of it. Reiff and someone else?
NFL Draft 2018: Talk and Speculation Quote

Reiff and Remmers. Remmers will play guard if they take a OT. OL definitely the #1 priority I think.
NFL Draft 2018: Talk and Speculation Quote

Yeah, my top OL ranked on the board there might have been James Daniels, but he plays center and I couldn't picture them bumping Elflein over after one year. McGlinchey might make more sense then. Not sure what the Patriots would do; Nick Chubb is my highest-rated player left, and although they've not gone RB in the first very often, I could see the fit there.

They did with Maroney and that's it, right?

Guy who tore his knee up in beach football at the Pro Bowl was under Carrol. Robert Edwards I think was his name, drafted to replace Curtis Martin in, I think, the first round.

I would be very surprised if Pats went RB 1st round. They're also trying to get away from run only backs so don't see them going Chubb even if they do go RB.

If I had to guess I'd say if a DB, LB, DE or OT they liked wasn't there they might trade out of the spot to a team who was into Mason Rudolph & wanted a 5th year option.

Yeah, I think Maroney is the only one, and Robert Edwards is the correct name.

Eh, I'm less convinced Chubb is run-only than other people. Wouldn't be surprised if they traded as you said, but I didn't include any trades. Maybe I should have tried to project some, but mock drafts are kind of wildly flailing in the dark as it is.

I mean, he's had 13 catches in the last 3 seasons combined. Gurley & Michel didn't catch a ton of balls, so the offense is definitely part of that, but that's crazy low. Dunno, we shall see.

Agree you can't mock trades in a standard mock. Was just pointing out what I'd expect them to do IRL.

It's interesting we both project Mayfield to Jets when their GM is the guy who drafted HACK & Allen will be on the board probably.

PFF has Mayfield as by far their #1, even after adjusting for the offense. No idea how good they are historically at this stuff, though.

PFF scouts production I think, not so much traits, and Mayfield had bonkers production, including against teams that were otherwise very good (TCU and Georgia for example). Mayfield set the record for single-season ANY/A and single-season passer rating in 2017-- breaking the records he set in 2016.

I just have a suspicion that as ridiculous as Mayfield played teams are gonna have to overlook the height thing. It's not impossible they don't, though! That said, the Jets front office might be under some pressure to show results a little sooner if they draft another QB-- they're not just gonna be able to leave him inactive for two years like they did with Christian Hackenberg.

He probably will go in the first in actuality but he has a lot of indicators that are concerning-- mediocre production for an old college player (he'll turn 24 during his rookie season) and very poor athleticism. Doesn't mean he can't succeed, but his ceiling is going to be limited.
