You mean like 2016-17 when Durant joined a 73-win team and they lost one game in the playoffs while the league experienced record revenues?

Listening the the BacktoBack pod now, Ethan is hilarious. He's trying to feign trepidation saying he'd rather have had Alex Len.

So does anybody know if Silver can just implement a 1-16 or if it HAS to be voted on? Assuming all WC teams vote yes, they'd need 5 from the East to pass a vote if it even gets there.

Chicago, Atl, Brk, and ORL will probably vote yes, which means one of New York, Charlotte, or Detroit has to as well.... Seeing as they'll all probably be fighting for one spot I have my doubts.

I DO think Silver is going to have it voted on this year though, in part because there's a real chance the league's best player is fighting for a spot next year.

2nd year is team option at least?

Seems like that's what the Jazz did with Favors; pay him double his market value in exchange for a team option to potentially use as a trade piece. And also you get a playable guy that doesn't hurt you financially going forward.

Why would Chicago, Atl, Brk, or Orlando vote yes?

The Lakers reportedly called Cousins on the first day of free agency. The Lakers reportedly have been consulting with LeBron on roster moves. Cousins was reportedly almost obsessed with playing with LeBron. Did LBJ veto offering a contract to Cousins?

Supposedly, Del Demps said he didn't want Cousins. I have a strong suspicion that Cousins called the Celtics asking for one year at the full MLE and they declined. Before the injury, it was rumored that ~BRAD was opposed to trading for him, so I can see Ainge saying no.

Because they aren't worried about making the playoffs and are trying to accumulate the best picks possible. Now that I think of it though there isn't much incentive unless they switch up the scheduling.

Jesus christ this is so ****ed. Supposedly they are worried about travel and the effects on the players, what about the effects having to go completely hard and overplay guys just to get a spot that the other side can easily obtain with less wins and a much easier schedule?

I think the real problem is TV schedules. Tho that's another thing that sucks about my wolves being in the West, 9:35pm starts.

Teams should just rest their starters when they play the Warriors.

I think hero is right, I found nothing funny or clever about that tweet.

This whole East/West thing is like a self-perpetuating disaster that's keeping me up at night. Like I said last night the West keeps getting long-term rewarded with better picks while a worse record in the East picks later, but it's much worse than that. The star quality is BADLY inequal, but because of this E/W crap the casual fan is led to believe that some of these "stars" in the East are exactly that, meanwhile you've got omissions left and right on the WC ballot.

Fake all-stars, worse teams in the playoffs, that crap right there is imo much worse than this GSW superteam stuff. You've got teams trying to convince fans to come to games, promote their best players, and coaches getting fired (or staying), and it's partially based on geography smfh.

FOR TWENTY YEARS.

The record revenue was 100% the tv money contracts kicking in for the league. Did you not see the ratchetest offseason in history in 16?

Someone should sign Zaza and he should be traded around the league to maximize his games against the Warriors.

Wow just heard Boogie to Warriors. What a perfect fit. Warriors are small now got one of the best big men in the game to fill the perfect need. Was hoping lakers got him but this is even better.

Smart move for Boogie as even though he gets paid barely anything this year he will look even better with Warriors so he can sign huge contract next year with someone. If McGee looked like an all star in same position what will Boogie look like? Wilt Chamberlain? If Boogie's healthy this is the greatest team to ever set foot on a basketball court!

I just woke up and don't have time to read through the whole thread so I'm gonna assume I'm not the first to say that I'd be pretty scared if I was a warriors fan. Going with cousins over the hamptons 5 is almost assuredly a downgrade, and getting him and then not playing him in the clutch is almost guaranteed to bring out the cancer in him

I can't believe people are still dumb enough to misunderstand the Chris Paul trade veto.

That wasn't the NBA vetoing the trade to keep competitive balance. The NBA was the acting owner of the team at the time and said no to the trade. Period. That's all.

If you still think "The league" vetoed it youre a ******.
