its less about lonzo and more about the other 3 guys you're sending out there. if you have capable wings who can shoot 3s surrounding those two, lonzo is an epic good fit with lebron. as it stands right now they're surrounding him with ingram/BroLo/KCP, which is a decent fit as far as competent shooters/spacers go.

lonzo is all about making the other guys on his team better and lebron loves that stuff. i think they will be a great fit so long as lonzo accepts that lavar is no longer his real dad.

ah youre right i missed that he was UFA

per KOC on lonzo:

"Ball is the ideal point guard for James, in my opinion. He’s a lightning-quick decision-maker who doesn’t need to dominate the rock, and when it is in his possession, the ball never sticks. Ball is a smart cutter off the ball, a lob threat, and someone who defends and rebounds at a high level for his age. Lonzo’s shot must improve drastically, but he shot 37.4 percent on catch-and-shoot 3s from December 7 on (and after his dismal start to the season). If he continues making progress, he’ll be a worthy floor spacer alongside James, and he very well may already be the best passer that James has ever shared the court with. In the presence of LeBron, Ingram will get the easiest shots he’s ever had. He’s 6-foot-9 with limbs like Gumby, and he has a versatile offensive skill set around the rim and on the perimeter. When Ball was sidelined last season, Ingram displayed the same pick-and-roll playmaking prowess that he did as a freshman at Duke. The Cavaliers sorely needed a secondary off-the-dribble creator in the playoffs to help LeBron. The Lakers have two of them developing in Ball and Ingram."

i would guess that whatever player the lakers slot as the 5th guy ends up not being a great fit with Lebron/Lonzo/Ingram/KCP. not a huge fan of KCP but he's a klutch sports guy and i guess LeGM thinks he's a great fit. therefore i think LeGM is gonna heavily influence whoever the 5th guy ends up being. maybe they already have it with Javale being the Bogut 15min/game guy and fill in the rest with a small kuzma lineup. or maybe they pay up for Randle.

seems like Kawhi is still in play with a trade but also based on the 1 year signings they are prepping to go after Kawhi or another FA next offseason.

i still think this current squad is very comparable to the one he left talent wise but obviously a lot younger and a lot of much cheaper contracts. without kawhi they win 50-53 max IMO especially if Lebron doesn't go all in during the regular season which he hasn't in a real long time. i don't mind the fits with ball and ingram but they're still huge question marks on how effective they'll be going forward.

only will root for the Lakers if they play the Warriors, i'm pretty disgusted about him going to the Lakers. I was fine with any team but the Lakers or the Warriors for Lebron. I hope the post nba/non basketball stuff is worth it for Lebron because i don't see any rings in his future.

Stay strong Lakers. Don't give into the big haul SA wants. If Kawhi really wants to go there he will come next year.

Also starting to like the Knicks future. All these euro players are all young with bright futures. I can see them gelling together nicely. Mario H and Porzingas especially looks like a nice duo. And if Frank pans out to be great wow.

Redick 1/12 back to Phi

Who on the Celts is he guarding next year?

Not a bad signing but if I'm Phi I would've considered A Bradley over him.

They got enough cap space where they can get Bradley too probably.

Tough to have them both on the court together though at their size since neither can really dribble.

Wonder what they will do with their cap space?

They should call Minn about Jimmy Butler.

Next year Sixers are shooting for a likely rotation of:

PG-Simmons 35 MPG TJ-13
SG-JJ-30 Fultz-18 (maybe some at PG)
SF-Roco-32, Zhaire-15, TLC/Anderson-3
PF-Saric-30, Amir-14
C-Embiid-30, Holmes-10

Not sure what happens with Bolden--need to figure out how to fill the voids left by Ilyasova and Bellineli. Need to figure out if Kawhi still can come over. Not sure if Miami #1 + Saric + Roco leaves them in a much better spot. They don't have much help at 4 right now after Saric. Amir is such a foul box he can't play much more.

Not sure who JJ can guard--putting him on Kyrie or JB seems like a disaster waiting to happen.

Reddick got destroyed by guys on the Celtics posting him up, A.Bradley is like 180lbs soaking wet, he'd be worse than Reddick on that front. They should've kept Mikal, i'm going to repeat this for eternity. Dude is 6'7 210lbs, shot 45% from 3 in college, almost 90% from the ft line with a 7'2 wingspan and won defensive player in college, he would've been better than Reddick and you can play him & Covington on the wings. I hope for the 76ers that Zhaire can give them something next year but iono.

Sixers really have to bank on Fultz being decent/good next year for them to have any shot at the Celtics next season barring trades/injuries.

Not possible, they won 35 games without Lebron & Lonzo/Kuzma in their rookie year & Ingram in his 2nd year, they should get around 50 wins or so if they don't trade for Kawhi. It's really not interesting this year if they don't get Kawhi. I think as fans we can only hope that the Celtics come out healthy & look unbeatable cause i can't stand another year of GS cruising through the playoffs.
